I don't think Lewis is going to be able to play this year though. If they signed him I would hope it was to stash him away for next year. Where he would likely be the best CB on the team(minus a draft pick).

yeah, actually, I agree. I think he is not going to play this year. It provides both an opportunity and a problem. Since he won't play, many teams will not make the investment to watch him sit for a year. The opportunity is that you can probably get him.
The problem is that you really don't know if he is good enough in a year to have paid him for a year to heal. All the same, if they feel he has the potential to be more than just good, I'd pull the trigger on a three year with the first two at league minimum (first to sit and the second to compensate for paying him to sit the first year), and then a decent non-guaranteed third year that would keep him if you liked what you saw the second year.

He has a fairly good history , but I wonder about a guy who was cut even before 1st cuts were mandatory . So , either he's having a terrible camp or something else is going on .

yeah.... you could be right, but I assumed it was because he would not play this year.
