My guess is we'll start out slow offensively. But if our D can hold them to FGs instead of TDs & keep it close at halftime our offense will get better as the game goes on & hopefully we'll have a chance to pull it out late.
If we get down by 3 scores or more we're in big trouble.
If you were hoping the fact he might not totally be in game shape might help the Bears, consider this: He had 17.5 sacks, 29 TFL's and 50 quarterback hits last season while playing at varying times with a broken hand, a groin tear, and a herniated disc.
Crap. Hope he's healthy then. He plays too damn good when he's hurt.
I literally have no idea what to expect. The pessimistic in me expects to see a 4 quarter version of the Chief's game with 2 Cutler ints for good measure and Bears lose 24-10. The optimistic in me thinks Loggains will call a brilliant game while the DEF frustrates a QB making only his 5th start in the NFL and the Bears win 24-13.
Reality is somewhere in the middle I think...maybe a competitive game with the Bears playing well that comes down to the end and could go either way. Not very enlightening or full of deep thoughts, but I just don't know what to expect.
With my luck, the local power company here in Peru will want to work on the powerlines and will cut the power all day Sunday.
This is a tough opener and I hate to oversimplify it but no offense no win. If we can't keep their offense off the field with some extended drives I think we're cooked.

LOL Peru the country or Peru the city?
Country. I live on the east side of the Andes Mountains in a city of about 200,000 people. About once a month they turn off all power from 7 in the morning until 4-5 in the afternoon to work on the power grid. I'm native from Chicago though.
Win or lose I will be excited. Every football season makes me happy. I watch from opening kick to last kneel down, then I'll get a copy of the game and watch it again, this time watching specific plays, players and sequences. I love football.

LOL at myself. That's what I thought you meant since I wasn't sure how many knew a Peru, Indiana even existed. Man it must be beautiful country where you live but the story about shutting down the power grid is amusing.
If they did that here people would be storming the power company offices. We're a bit spoiled when it comes to public utilities and the internet. I huff and puff angrily when mine goes down.

this will be a very interesting game. i expect a very different feel to the offense compares to last year; that and really not knowing what we have in terms of players (not enough tape on all these young guys) should make things fun to watch.
I do not think the Texans are a very good team, but i'd have to say the same about the bears. If we get totally blown out I am going to be very disappointed. for whatever reason, our bears seem to play better on the road, at least on offense.

i agree, and think we'll see an attempt on play calling side to keep time of possession up. running the ball and using any PA will still require moving the pocket away from Watt.
You aren't going to fool that guy.
My biggest fear is that Langford can't get going. If he isn't patient/ hasn't the time to let a one cut lane develope we are better off smashing into their line with Carey imo.

What really funny is that being the gringos, we don't really listen to Peruvian radio or watch the local news because its all about cattle futures/prices and the latest list of dead from a bus that fell off a cliff. So about every other month we don't get the news that power will be off. So we are in bed, I'm thinking about making coffee, when my wife notices that the ceiling fan is slowing down and right about then my 15 year old starts yelling about "HOW COME NO ONE TOLD ME THE POWER WAS GOING TO BE OUT!!!" Of course no one charged any devices that night and my 13 year old gripes all day about having to read real books instead of her kindle.
It would be interesting to find a few Texan sources about the game.
