I truly don't understand why he is not already there. I thought the dude showed well in PS games.
Well he hasn't signed with anyone else yet that I've noticed. They may have offered the PS to him but he may also be trying to catch on with another team as a backup rather than spend another season on the Bears PS as a #3 NT. Since we have enough depth at DE I'm actually surprise they didn't keep him over Sutton. Sutton offers a little more versatility but Williams is more of a true NT.
Not only that, but im sure he sees that our DL is full, with young quality guys, its gonna be tough for him to find his place under the Fox-sun

The Swamp Monster is on the street and avail. If another team was interested in him, they would be calling and if he thought he had no future with us, he would sign elsewhere.

There is no doubt that if a team he liked called, he surely would sign, thats a given

Someone would need to make him an offer first and that would also include us if we wanted to offer him a spot on the PS. Given that he was used fairly successfully during the preseason and among the final cuts we may have offered him a PS spot and he may have declined. Or we may not have and Pace is still looking at other possibilities before making a final decision.
Since PS rosters tend to be very fluid throughout the season he may have decided to just stick around as a street FA for now to see what pops up after a week or two of injuries taking place. It's also possible that Pace is still trying to trade Sutton for a draft pick or a player and has asked Williams to hang loose for a few weeks to see how that works out.
We could guess forever and not know but so far it appears that he's still unsigned and we could bring him back.

Actually last year he was in limbo for a while. He wasn't signed back to the PS for a couple of weeks after being released.

That could be the case this year too chuck. By now I think we're all pretty used to all the roster and PS shuffling that goes on over the first couple of weeks of the season. Pace may have told him they want him on the PS and simply asked him to wait 'til he gets done shuffling the rest of the deck before he does it.
They can always compensate him for that with a bump in his PS pay once they do sign him. I really like the kid and I think they do too but he's playing for a 3-4 team and it's a numbers game with DL. If one of the DEs goes down injured Fangio may need to move Sutton back to DE and then they may sign Williams again to back Goldman at NT.
