Maclin is 28, and also gets injured a lot. Cruz, it appears can be cut with just a 500K cap hit per reports I saw the other day. Maclin would immediately become the best receiver on the roster if he stays healthy however, so yeah...Pace should probably be interested.
From my ignorant fan perspective - HELL YES. As butkus3595 stated, if he remained healthy (big if) he'd easily be the 'projected' best receiver on the roster. Of course you go for that.
From Pace's perspective - I'm not sure. The FO has a specific profile of a player they're looking for (it least that's how it seems to me) and part of that is character and part of that is scheme fit. Not sure that Maclin can do what Pace needs.
If we could get him for a reasonable contract, yes, I'd sign him. He just turned 29 years old a few weeks ago, so he's not old. He only had 539 yards receiving last year, but he had missed 4 games.
Maclin is a outside receiver, we have alot of competition at the slot. It would have to be a incentive based contract ( like we have that kind of leverage). I would be a little worried that the man who knows him best, Andy Reid, cut him. Last season was his only bad year because of injuries. I say go for it, the competition at WR is going to be amazing. We will find out who wants to be on the team.

Well...the Chiefs are still in cap hell. When accounting all of their salaries they are still over the salary cap by 2 mill. They are under on the top 51...which is good for now...but they need to make sure they stay there once the season starts. Maclin carried a 12.4 million dollar cap charge this season, so if they did not cut him they would not have been able to sign their draft class, as with him they would have only been 2 million under the cap on the top 51. Cutting Maclin saves them 10 mill on the cap this year....hence why they cut him. Nobody else was going to give them that kind of room. Once their draft class is signed they'll only have about 5 mill in cap space left.
