With Gold's release I did not realize that Jay is the last player on the roster signed/drafted by Angelo
Time waits for no one. JA actually got off to a good start but his inability to draft well on offense eventually caught up to him. Pace is far more aggressive at going after top talent and while I may not agree with every move he makes at least he's making the moves and the scene keeps changing. That alone gives me hope that he'll make enough good ones to make a difference.

Did JA make any first round picks that were any good? My limited memory says no.

Tommie Harris, he was great, Olsen was also a good pick
It's good to have talented youth - and I think we do. It's also exciting to see that our team makeup is becoming more and more reliant on our draft picks. Still, I want the trifecta: Talented Homegrown Youth.

What's so ironic is that Emery had the opposite problem. He was pretty solid on offense (both FA and the draft) but utterly terrible on D. This is the guy that drafted Bostic, Shea, Greene, Vereen, Ferguson, Hardin, etc and whiffed defensively in FA as well.
Is it too much to ask for a GM that is reasonably successful in the draft on both sides of the ball?

i think it's too early to say if Pace sucks at drafting O. White, Langford, Whitehair, Howard, Grasu, Meredith (UDFA) are/were starting draft picks of Pace's and Sitton, Massie, Larsen, Royal, Thompson are all Offensive FAs by Pace. Let's see how they look at year's end before we seriously - though casually is fine - hit the O panic button.

Not defending Emery because he screwed us pretty good with the Trestman choice as well as what he was paying players, but I think Tucker was his biggest problem. You put Fangio in instead of Tucker and even with Emery, the D would not have been as bad. JMO

The Trestman/Tucker combo was horrific. These two were a train wreck.
