I just realized how excited I am for Train Camp this year. I was reading a few articles on rookie mimi camp and it hit me, optimism for our Bears. At the half way point last year I didn't check in here or read articles on the crappy team, I lost interest. Now I want to see a good camp Qb competition. I know we are not winning tbe division this year, but I feel we might be trending upwards.
Trending up! Isn't that all that really matters with this team right now?
I think Pace has supplied the talent. I want to see if John Fox can win with it. You either win games, or you lose them. I think it is reasonable to expect John Fox to produce 8 wins this 3rd year. Do any of you believe if we hired a top-tier coach in 2018 we'd be a 3-win team at the three year point? No.
Excuses are usually built upon a bit of reality (reasons) but that only takes you so far. At SOME point a head coach needs to show he can win games. And 8 wins is not like we're expecting to win a Super Bowl like Lovie did in his third season here. Just play .500 ball. If Fox can't get that out of this roster I'm sorry. I'm not impressed.
And BTW, I'm not longing for the Lovie Smith days. We won championships back then, but I'm not expecting that this year. Just play .500 ball man. Eight stinking wins. If Fox isn't the guy to deliver that with this roster, then I sure hope Pace is beating the bushes for a man who CAN do it here.

W/the roster the way it is a mid tier coach next year could win 8 games. It's not fair to reason that way; no coach was winning w/what Pace/Fox had; especially at qb.

The dead horse I am beating here is that I am fine with the first two years of Fox, and didn't expect great things in two years. My only point is that I expect to see significant improvement this 3rd year.

Jabf, I think you and I are basically on the same page. 5-8 wins this year, and 8+ w/a shot at competing for a playoff spot next year.
