I thought that was a good article and there may be some truth to it. I just hope we can keep Fangio here if Fox leaves. I also wonder how hungry Fox is to win at this point. Maybe I am dead wrong. What do you guys think?
"In truth people forget that Pace grew up in a different template for team building. He saw how to make a champion in New Orleans. It involved a dynamic offense, opportunistic defense and a smart, accurate, clutch passer driving the machine. Not to mention an aggressive, charismatic head coach on the head set like Payton. The fact is Fox never fit with that vision. He’s a laid back, old school guy who believes in defense, power running, and ball security. If this rumor is true and Pace conspired with chairman George McCaskey to cut Fox out of the loop, then he might as well be half out the door already.
In truth the 2017 draft proves beyond any further doubt that the Chicago Bears are Ryan Pace’s team. He’s going to build it his way. If Fox can’t cope with that, then odds are he won’t be around much longer."

I think so as well. I just don't think Fox is hungry like he was in the past. The only reason why he is still here is because he didn't lose control of the locker room (that is how I see it). If Fox does go, I want Fangio here was well. Maybe as a head coach.
It seems weird that this story line keeps popping up. Why would people report on this, repeatedly, if there was nothing to it? If this is true, I would rather they fire Fox sooner than later. No reason to keep the dysfunction together. If it is false, I assume Fox will be here 2 more years at a minimum. I just have so little faith in any media outlets.
I think Fox was brought in due to the state of the team after Emery/Trestman. Fox was a veteran coach who was respected by players and also around the league. He was about as safe a pick for HC as you could get for the turbulence of the past 2 post-Trestman seasons. Last season with the injuries on top of everything else, I think Fox did a decent job just holding the team together as much as he did. I also believe Vic Fangio probably took this job due to John Fox being the HC here. And I really like Fangio as our DC.
Winning seems to be the best medicine for things like this. If this season is a good one, and we see a lot of improvement, then maybe it will all be okay. If not though, I think Fox is a goner at the end of this season. They won't give him a 4th season, even if that means they have to eat that last year of his contract.
I don't hate Fox, I just want to see us start winning. This is the 3rd season of Pace/Fox. It's time. I'm all about rebuilding for the future, but that doesn't mean you don't see significant improvement in a 3rd season like this. I'm sorry, a 5 or 6 win season will be a disappointment. Even an 8 win season is borderline I think. I guess it's better than getting jabbed in the eye with a sharp stick, but it wouldn't feel a whole lot better to me.
I still believe that Fox was a Ted hire and not a Pace hire.
I still think Mitch Trubisky was a Pace pick and not a Fox pick.
If the rift is true and I believe it is then maybe this was Pace's plan. Draft a bunch of players who can't start year 1 and develop while you wait. Either Fangio is going to be our new HC or we will get an Offensive minded coach as HC.
