If the Browns go after and get JG, then they won't be drafting a QB with their first pick. Probably Garrett is gone.
That would leave us one of the top two draft QBs. Cousins has said the only trade he would take is to the 49ers because of Shanahan. I don't think they can pull that off, but if that happens, then the 9ers don't draft a QB either and we have our choice of any QB. I just hope we don't play smart and say that the QB we want should be available in the 2nd so we take someone else and then our guy is gone. Then we can hear another "draft didn't go our way" speech. If we get first shot at a QB, take they guy you think will lead you to a SB and be done with it. He'll take some flack for sure if it is not one of the consensus top QBs, but if he's right in the end it won't matter.
Or... Pats decide not to trade JimmyG, Redskins keep Cousins, Browns & 49ers select Watson & Kizer because they need a QB badly and we end up with either Trub or Garrett.
Not exactly my favorite scenario but it's possible.
yeah. Sure is. My thoughts keep coming back to all the picks and money Cleveland has, and they have a competent coach now also. I can't believe that they would not make a run at the best QB available. That is probably JG, but he is not going to come at a bargain. They have so much money that I don't think they will care. JMO, but really it's just my guess.
So according to Waterfootball, they have heard rumors the Bears are really high on Mitchell Trib. Should be really interesting to see how it all works out. Of the 3 that's the one guy I like the least; mainly b/c of his lack of experience, but if you got a guy like Glennon, you could sit Mitchell for a couple years and not worry about it.

JMO,bu t I don't think Glennon is any better than Cutler. Different for sure, but I'm not sure the results would be a whole lot different. Go McCown. He has no illusions about being longte rm. He is a great mentor and can still get you through games competitively if he has to while the new guy comes up to speed. Just a lot of money for mediocre when it comes to Glennon. I just have never been a fan of his.

But is he really the best QB available? Is he really so much better than Watson or Kizer?

I really dont know, or have an opinion on him one way or the other.

I can't say that I know. I think he SHOULD be though. He has been in an excellent program under a unique talent QB. He has seen what it takes to succeed. He has played well but only a few games (biggest knock IMO).
I figure he is a good a bet as there is, but I simply don't know.

From what I've read (take with grain of salt):
Kizer sounds like another Cutler..."All arm, no head". OMG, if that's even partially true then I wat nothing to do with him. Apparently, he performed poorly in the QB drills at the Combine too. We have all had enough of a starting QBs with a 50 million dollar arm and a 10 cent brain.
I know everyone is high on Watson. I'm not that excited. He threw a lot of picks in college. Is he another RG3 who will flash and then be constantly hurt? Besides I think he's likely gone to San Fran at #2.
Trub is my preferred guy among the early favorites. But yeah he's gonna need patience and time. I'm not too excited about paying Glennon $15M--same as Cutler--as a bridge when he's not really "the guy". That combo (of draft and monetary capital) is basically the same thing as GAROPPOLO.

If Pace has his heart set on having a "vet QB" in the mix, then I think McCown would be an excellent choice. He would be cheap as a bridge or backup option. There would be no QB controversy when the time comes for the young guy to take the reins. And he would be a great mentor and de facto QB coach. He's actually stated publicly that he is seeking that type of role.
McCown is a better backup IMHO than Hoyer and would likely be cheaper too.
Kizer blew away people in his interviews, so not sure how he's all arm no head.
Watson is the best of the three imo, I like Kizer but Watson played the best competition and beat them, I'll take that anydays.
I cannot believe for one moment that GLennon is getting 15 mil a year, unless it's a 1 or 2 year deal. Cutler isn't a bridge person, he shouldn't be any person for the Bears.
B/c Jimmy G is just as much of an unkown as Glennon, and will cost you 15 mil a year(you have to give him a new contract this year or risk losing him to FA) AND you have to give up multiple picks, and one of those is going to be a 1st rounder b/c apparently the Browns are willing to give the 12th overall for him.

Glendon turned down $8M from Tampa and is reportedly going to cost $12-15M on the open market. He's the best FA QB out there and the youngest (not exactly a high bar). If he somehow were Pace's "guy", then I'd say sure GO GET HIM. But he's not. He would be only a bridge or placeholder unless he surprised massively to the upside as a temporary starter. So why pay that much for someone that isn't "your guy" long term?
I wasn't commenting on Kizer's interview skills. It was his decision making with the ball that's in question. Haven't we seen enough of that already?
As for JG, he's probably got a higher ceiling than Glennon, has been better coached and mentored, and is 2 years younger. Again, if you're gonna spend resources like that, then why not go get him over Glennon?
