I almost voted neutral , but in fairness I think he deserves an up vote , so that's what I gave him . But he's on thin ice - he's still suspect in my book .
More super low hurdles. None of the WR's really stood out, including AJ, but at least he was hurt. So basically Cam is = to Hurt AJ who you said isn't very good and shouldn't be on the team and can be easily replaced by Cam. So Healthy AJ >>>>>>>> then Cam and Cam>= hurt AJ(their #'s weren't that far off from eachother).
Do you know who led the RB and WR's in fumbles last year?
Was AJ hurt the whole season? Was his performance based on his PED? No one truly knows but we do know Cam is getting better every year. I remember some here saying it takes 3-4 years for a WR to get his game on. No reason that can't be Cam who came off a great season with a QB like Hoyer and Barkley throwing to him.
PFF graded Cam as the league's best double move WR.
"Cameron Meredith scored four touchdowns in 2016, two on double moves. Meredith caught all 5 of his targets for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had a perfect receiver rating of 158.3 and averaged 26.2 yards per catch."
LOL....PFF...Double moves...WTF! Cam is coming off a nice season. You yourself said if a receiver doesn't have 1K yards they aren't great...so please...save it. AJ almost outproduced him in yardage with 14 less catches on the season.

Cam also coughed up the ball 4 times compared to zero for AJ. 4 td's to 4 fumbles isn't a good ratio.

I think he is doing the best he can with the options available to him. That's all a GM can really do. Too many people think GMs should just be able to conjure up solutions at anytime when the reality is they are often heavily constrained in their options.
Various decisions:
Forte - Forte's production was poor in New York and likely would have been poor here. You want to release players before they go bad, not after.
Marshall - The guy was (and still is) a massive distraction in the locker room and often acts like a petulant kid. I know he has a mental disorder but he needs to deal with that off the clock. There really was no choice when it came to getting rid of him. Pace even managed to get a draft pick out of it.
Sitton - While the move may have been obvious Pace did make it without hesitation.
McPhee - Somewhat disappointing because of his injuries we needed someone with a presence on the edge. There's only so many guys like that out there and we didn't over pay for him (much). If he can get his knee squared away he might be what we are paying him. Good move regardless of what happens.
Freeman - Although tarnished by the suspension he had an otherwise monster year. A great signing.
Trevathan - Injured for much of the year this was still a good signing. If he can stay healthy he will really help us in the middle.
Bennett - I would have liked to have kept him but the guy is so flighty it's hard to know what you might get from him game to game. I understand the decision even if it might not have been the right move.
2016 Draft - Found a Pro Bowl RB, a likely future Pro Bowl offensive lineman, a potential Pro Bowl edge rusher, a strong backup LB, and an athletic young DB to develop in Hall. That's a pretty good haul.
2015 Draft - White's been a disappointment obviously but if he can get through a season uninjured we might have something. Goldman is disruptive on the line. Langford is at least a competent back up with some upside still. Not sure about Grasu with Whitehair doing so well but it he might make a good center/guard backup. Amos has been the only thing solid in the secondary.
QB issues - He hasn't made any bold moves but I haven't really seen any opportunities that he's missed on as we haven't been in any position to draft a real prospect.

For me, it's staying the same or maybe going down a little. He has raised eyebrows a few times with these releases.
Truth be told, I bang on Fox a lot and that's because I think he is behind much of these strange personnel decisions. But to be fair, I honestly have no empirical data to say it is Fox. It could be all Pace, which is why I have questions in my mind right now. I mean, it should be the GM, not the HC for sure, but somehow I still see Fox. I really try to be balanced and so until I know I really have to stay on the fence, but I do not see Pace as the kind of guy that jettisons talent for issues like Bennett. I just see Fox there and so I project that all the other changes with the same irrationality are also Fox, but I may be unfair here. Still... it is what I believe but until I see something one way or another that really has some meat to it, all I can do is stay with my gut instinct.
I saw another article recently on the Foxmeister that I'll post.

This is what makes me laugh. I've seen numerous fans and people in the fantasy football community that just love Meredith and think he's great. I agree that he did well and could have a good career going forward but come on. How can you be so down on Jeffery yet so high on Meredith when they had such similar seasons statistically? Most of it has to do with price which is just stupid in my opinion.
