Pace has a set price tag. He's letting Jeffery explore FA because he believe the market is closer to what Pace is offering.
Pace got Howard which was a upgrade to Forte. I wouldn't call it lucked out on Howard when its not Pace's job to put said player at #1. Many were saying Howard was the best running back on our team. Blame Loggains and Fox for Howard being late in the depth chart. This years draft is a great TE class so Bennett won't be misssed We have Cam who's great and there are a number of wrs in this years draft that could be quality starters.
Jeffery was still the best WR on the team. Meredith just played in two more games so he happened to have 67 more yards. Meredith proved to be a good WR but he's far from great. If he can improve on what he did last year then I'll start believing that maybe he's a great WR.
More super low hurdles. None of the WR's really stood out, including AJ, but at least he was hurt. So basically Cam is = to Hurt AJ who you said isn't very good and shouldn't be on the team and can be easily replaced by Cam. So Healthy AJ >>>>>>>> then Cam and Cam>= hurt AJ(their #'s weren't that far off from eachother).
Do you know who led the RB and WR's in fumbles last year?

Getting 888 yards in his second year in the NFL is pretty great. Its not like our 1st round pick WR can do that.
We don't know what the 1st round pick can do b/c he's been inj'd. 888 yards is good enough for 36th in the league. His 4 TD's are good for a tie for 48th, and his rec's are good for 42nd.
Those aren't impressive #'s, and if AJ is healthy he's not getting that much. Cam is a nice WR but he's hardly great.

Was AJ hurt the whole season? Was his performance based on his PED? No one truly knows but we do know Cam is getting better every year. I remember some here saying it takes 3-4 years for a WR to get his game on. No reason that can't be Cam who came off a great season with a QB like Hoyer and Barkley throwing to him.
PFF graded Cam as the league's best double move WR.
"Cameron Meredith scored four touchdowns in 2016, two on double moves. Meredith caught all 5 of his targets for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had a perfect receiver rating of 158.3 and averaged 26.2 yards per catch."

Cam is going to have a great future as a Bear WR.
You're not using any kind of fair comparisons. Jeffery player fewer games and got doubled as the WR1 on the team. Meredith did very well with the opportunity given to him and I hope he continues. He has yet to prove he can be a stud though. This season with be the season he needs to prove it. I think he can but he's not there yet. No different than Howard not being there yet. You have to do it for more than one season before you're considered great at your position.

You're right is saying that theirs no reason why he can't do it but that doesn't mean he's reached that status. Lets not label him too early. Cool the jets motm.

Much like the langford and braverman hype gotta let these guys show it on the field wheb it matters and over time. Jumping to conclusions is how the bears ended up in the te and wr position they are now in
