Chicago isn't "rolling with Cohen and Davis" my friend. There's a draft pick coming plus Patterson will get some carries.
I liked JH as did most Bears fans (he was the whole offense pre-Nagy) but he wasn't going to be more than a short yardage back going forward in Nagy's offense.
I guess the question is, what kind of contract will he get next season? Is this equivalent to the comp pick we'd likely get? I'm a bit torn on this one. I guess I would have gone Howard-Cohan-rookie vs Davis and the gang. If we get a 5th I'll be happier.
At least they got something for him. He wasn't a fit apparently in Nagy's offense. If they were set on moving on from him, I'm glad they did it now. That said, I always like Howard... I wish him well.
Howard was a 5th round pick, so I hope that we do end up with a 5th round for him instead of the 6th.
I remember the last time we traded a very talented player for peanuts because he didn’t "fit the scheme."
I'm no more pleased this time around.
ya but that was bc we had a oc that was behind the times on what TE could be with a ahead of his time athlete. this time we have a abead of the times hc and a rb that plays a behind the time role.

That was Greg Olson, a 1st round pick. Howard was a 5th rounder with only 1 year left on his rookie contract.
I would have liked more compensation too but lets be honest he was gone next year anyway.
Wow. I'm back, and Howard's gone? Howard and Ashlon Jefferys can have a good time yakking about how bad this team used to be... Don't like this, but Howard didn't fit the scheme, and he wasn't happy about it either.
2,435 yards, while getting keyed on by the D, and the WRs STILL couldn't get open. JH needs a lot of carries to be effective. He wasn't going to get them here in this offense.

Ding Ding Ding. You can see with the signings from last year and so far this year Nagy wants SPEED on offense. Howard, with his 4.59 speed ain't that. He also didn't seem to mesh with the blocking scheme.

Not true. In 2016, his best season, he had 2 more carries than he had this year.
I want to note, I’m not sharing these “anti” Howard posts to bag on the guy. I like him as a person and as a player, but there are clearly good reasons/justifications to move on from him. It’s very possible we already upgraded Howard with Davis just by scheme fit alone so why hang on to him?
