If the Vikes are up by > 1 TD and we pull our starters, why would he keep his starters in? He can always put them back in if need be. This is what you are missing. Outside of the home field (which would already be guaranteed), I really do not see the upside for us. All is does is guarantee we lose a game.
Why? Because they aren't going to risk having the backups mess something up and get the Bears back in the game. The only situation I see the Vikings having their #1s rest if it's the 4th quarter and they have a 14+ point lead... even then they might not rest them. The Vikings can't afford to think about next week's matchup yet, unlike how the Bears can/will be.

Have you seen Chase Daniel play? I think your #2 defense could get fat off his turnovers.
The ideal situation would be to have the Rams lose against the 49ers (I know, a long shot upset) and the Bears to win against the Vikes. The Rams would have to come to Soldier Field to play us in January. That would be huge.
Why be worried about the Eagles? There's a reason Foles has been a backup. Fitzpatrick was a stud for a few games too and then came crashing back to earth. I'm not worried about him. Their running game is not very impressive. The team was a disaster for most of the season.
Did you watch the Eagles in the playoffs last season? Have you watched them lately?
You bring up Fitzpatrick, but Foles actually won meaningful games in December, January, and February. He has yet to come crashing back down to earth. For whatever reason, he gives that team a spark ... and he's proving it again this season when the Eagles were basically counted out. I agree that the Bears are the better team, but I don't understand dismissing this red hot Eagles team.
Are you guys sure you didn't want to play Minnesota next weekend? lol. Better hope Foles' magic is gone, but either way, the Eagles will probably put up more of a fight than we would have. Should've taken it easy on us and rested your starters and played some ... Bears fans from the stands. lol.

It's a double edged sword. Could you imagine the hand ringing of Bears media/fans if they had to face Minnisota a week after they got beat by them? And likely the Vikings would be very excited for another shot at Chicago.

I don't understand why fans are worried that the Bears have to play the Eagles and wish it was an easier opponent.
Personally, I would rather have the absolute toughest path to the SB because it will make it that much more gratifying to win it. It's not supposed to be easy!
Besides it makes the bragging rights sooo much sweeter.

Fair enough, I respect that opinion. You did risk Anthony Miller injuring (dislocating?) his shoulder and what looked like a concussion on Roy Robertson-Harris, but hey, I guess if you'd like to make things tougher for yourselves, go right ahead. You guys still should be able to beat the Eagles just fine at Soldier Field...

That is what I think as well. And there is also a risk of injury in any game. BTW, both RRH and Miller would have been in for extended playing time as we would have sat the veterans (Miller is a #2 WR on our depth chart and RRH is a #3 DE). So I really don't see that either would have seen much less playing time than they already were seeing.
