Fangio intrigues me. I's like to see what he can do before we make a final decision. Toub is also interesting.
If I could actually get anyone I wanted it would still be Harbaugh, but won't happen.
This is probably illogical on my part, but I don't want another old guy as HC. I am 100% fine with coordinators being old guys though. I don't want another CFL guy either. I'd really like to see us find a young guy on the way up, and have him here for a long time. I so envy the Patriots. They gave Bill Belichick a 2nd chance at being an HC after he bombed in his first gig with the Cleveland Browns.

I don't care about age JABF. I care about ability. Age is not Fox's problem and IMO, being from the CFL was not Trestmans problem (he was an accomplished coordinator in the NFL before being a successful CFL HC).
I won't paint any candidate with preconceptions. It's all about what they bring to the table as an individual for me. I would not mind an older coach and I would not mind a CFL coach. I just want the right one.
"While the Belichick disciples have not had success outside of the system, I’m really not worried about that because that’s one of those things that’s true until it isn’t. It only takes one guy to change that narrative and it’s just plain difficult to become a good NFL Head Coach in the first place."
This is something I think folks miss when discussing us hiring Josh McDaniels. Yes he did badly on his first head coaching gig. So did Bill Belichick. But Bill Belichick, on his 2nd HC gig is doing pretty well the last time I checked. McDaniels will be a great HC in this league, but probably for the Patriots. I think they will have him as Bill's replacement when Belichick retires.
My 2nd choice would be Cooter.
The only guy I hope they stay away from is Sean Payton.

+1 Like I said, it's illogical on my part. But I would like a younger (ish) guy who could be our HC for a number of years to come. Wouldn't it be great to catch a guy on the way up, rather than some guy who the game has passed by? But I agree with you that I just want the Bears to get it right this time. Old, young, in-between, from another league... I don't care if he's from the Botswana Bumblebees -if- he can win here, I'm good with it. I just want to win. Tired of the clown show. Tired of the embarrassing butt-ugly play.

What I want to REALLY know, more than anything, is WHO is making the decision to not play Mitchell. If Fox is simply Pace's puppet and doing what he's told, he needs to come out and say so. This is his last stand and he has to know that his job is on the line. That reason alone makes me think Fox is making the decisions on who to play at QB more than Pace. If he was being "Told" to not play Mitchell, why wouldn't he come out and say so to save face?
Usually you get the one or two that find excuses as in Tucker, but here not a single person thought Fox should stay. Does not look good for him.
Most people thing we are going to have to live with him until the end of the year which I don;t agree with but it's hard to find anyone that wants him to stay.
I want him to stay! Did you see how he answered that journalist when asked: why Trub is on the bench if hes not ready? He told him: in case of an injury, we also have 2 OL backups, thats the way football works! Hes good. And smart. And if I may say a quite dashing man.
Gotta agree Alex. He's dashed my hope beyond all recognition.
This sums up my position pretty well;
Robert Zeglinski:Unequivocally, absolutely, yes - Fox should not be the head coach of the Bears anymore. He was never the guy to take Chicago back to the mountaintop and he won’t be if Trubisky develops into what the Bears believe. It’s time most people accept that.
Quite simply, the game has passed Fox by. His stubborn, hypocritical vindictiveness (such as how he’s handling the current quarterback situation) without any results runs thin. His conservative mentality to play not to lose and place the brunt of the game on the defense doesn’t work in 2017. He was supposed to bring stability to this organization (I never bought that) but ironically they’ve won even less than they ever did under Trestman. What’s professionalism in a locker room when the team still shows up listless for performances every now and then in the same fashion as they did under Trestman. I almost feel as if people remember two straight 50-point losses in a bubble and then apply that to the entire Trestman era. As if Trestman was the reason an already old and decaying team fell apart. Fox has been worse throughout (who has actually progressed in three seasons under his helm and “development”?) and shouldn’t have been brought back for a third season. Now you reap what you sow.
I fully expect to go into the bye week at 1-7 or 2-6. At that point in time I would be looking to fire Fox, replace him with Vic Fangio as the interim HC, start Trubisky, and take the raps off of Loggains game plans and play calling. We need to find out now whether or not sans Fox these two are good coordinators and if either can be more than that.
Part of me would like to keep Fangio around and part of me would like to keep Loggains around but I also think the only way that happens is if one or the other is named HC beyond 2017. The part of me that doesn't want them is based on asking how we end up with so many **** ups with coverage responsibilities. Why are receivers left uncovered so often?
For Loggains I would like to see what his own offense looks like because I don't believe this is it. I think he's more innovative and daring than he's been able to be under Fox. Our whole approach to offense needs to be shit canned and recast. The question is does Loggains have the knowledge to do that and can he get Trubisky to a franchise level guy.
