I mean we're a week removed from almost beating the former NFC champs...and we're talking about futility and it being worse than the 70's....let's all take a breath here. Prior to the start of the season it was the wide belief on this site looking at the first 4 games the Bears would be 0-4...whats changed exactly? As for those clammoring for Trubs...I think point 3 from Biggs 10 points is pretty good:
3. For those clamoring for an immediate switch, I’d ask that you keep in mind a few factors that certainly have to be considered:
The wide receiver position is really bad and hopefully gets a little better with the return of Markus Wheaton. I think Wheaton plays this coming Sunday against the Steelers.
Both guards were knocked out of the game and the best offensive lineman, center Cody Whitehair, was asked to play three positions. The Bears need to make sure they have the future protected as best as possible when Mitch Trubisky plays.
The running game hasn’t done a darn thing.
The Steelers are 2-0 and the Bears will play five days after that against the Packers, a week in which there are basically two walk-through practices.
The mini-break in the schedule the team gets after the Green Bay game might be the most ideal time to make a move at the position. They don’t play in Week 5 until Monday, Oct. 9, so that would create two, possibly three extra practices to prepare the rookie.
He could play against the Vikings and break his leg on the first snap. You don't not play someone because the game is going to be tough. You play them because they are the future and your current QB sucks. He sucked last week against Atlanta and he sucked even more this week. I was one of those that declared Glennon should play all season and Mitch should sit, but sometimes you have to accept reality and in my opinion the reality is Mitch would be better playing than sitting on the sidelines. It may even inspire a coach who is out of work to think there is a future in Chicago with a young QB.
I'm not worried about injury...that could happen anytime anywhere. I'm more worried about the mental aspect of it all.
