I did and now I wonder if Loggains OC professor was Bill Cosby. It pretty much fits with the offense I saw last year that had no basic flavor, few strong points, and if there was a plan it was a failed one.
In his best season he caught 94 passes but barely broke 1000 yards. That's slot receiver numbers not #1 wideout so again how is his production gonna replace AJs?
I know some are accusing me of being totally pessimistic but tell me. How do you all not question moves like this. When Brandon Marshall showed up he told everyone what to expect and then went out and produced. Kendall Wright humbly beseeches you all to share in his hope he can rekindle his magic with Loggains? WFT. A season with just 1079 yards in 16 games? That's only 67 yards per game and that's his all time best?
How happy would you all be if we replaced Jordan Howard with a guy who averages just 67 yards per game?
We didnt replace anybody, AJ wanted to leave! Also, our QBs (including Jay) didnt have much of a season, so Glennon could outperform them all, why not? Regarding AJ, his last 2 season werent as stellar, and that is clearly visible by the contract he got. And yes, healthy White, Wheaton and Wright can replace, not only that, they can too outperform AJ from last season!
When healthy AJ is a natural #1 talent. Problem has been he hasn't been healthy the last 2 seasons. Can the WR's the Bears have replace what AJ has been the last 2 seasons? Yes. Can they replace what he is when he's healthy? probably not. Problem is who's to say he'll stay healthy; as a Bear you always hoped. As an Eagle I'm not worried about it.
"Dowell is just 'get open,'" Wright said. "He's not doing anything special; I just think I fit in the offense he runs pretty well. He put no limitations on my game. He didn't just tell me to play slot. He let me play whatever I wanted to play, whatever position. The more you can do with him, the better you'll be."
Anyone besides me look at this quote and ask yourself "I wonder if he really meant to say that?"
Yea I'm all excited for these two to hook back up. "OK, Kendall, just go long and about the time you pass the garbage can in Mr. Edwards driveway, I'll throw it to you, so start looking. Kevin, you run out wide left and count to 3 Mississippi and I'll fake it to you"

Pretty well said. I was strongly in the "resign Alshon" camp because as you said when he's healthy he's a no doubt #1. But these guys can be what Alshon was here the past 2 years.

How did you know I was thinking of that album when I wrote my post.

Alex, that's beside the point. Whatever the reason anyone wants to choose he's no longer the Bears #1 WR right? To me that means we need to replace him and his production and Wright at his best has never even gotten close to AJ's best. That's the point I was making.
This all goes hand in hand with the claims I've made all along that each time we've lost a key producer on offense those who've replaced them are lesser players. We can hope they become better but based on past performance the are not better players.
Jordan Howard may be the only exception but then it was really Langford he replaced and Langford who was slotted to replace Forte. And despite his rushing acumen Howard still does not add to the passing game in the way Forte did.
AJ's deal was one that was oft suggested he be offered here as well because if he plays an entire 16 game slate and produces as we all know he can then he'll collect his $14 mil and obviously he believes he will do that. Maybe Pace didn't. But also in the mix would be his decision that Mike Glennon will not resolve the Bears needs at QB because he made a point to say he wanted to play somewhere where the QB position was solid.
As for that last sentence we've been hearing the word "can" a lot but the pure fact of the matter is none of those three ever has actually done that. Hell, White can't stay healthy and even when he was Cam Meredith was clearly the better receiver of the two. IF they CAN then I would like to see them actually do it before I commit myself to being happy about losing AJ.

Im not happy with losing AJ. But our O could be better without him next year, cos of our new weapons

Still have FA and vet cuts after OTA's/TC also. This is far from the complete roster.

Would you take a guy like Demaryious Thomas or Amari Cooper as your #1 receiver on this team?
I was hoping we'd draft Cooper back in 2015 but Oakland wisely took him before we could. Between him and White I felt he was the far more pro ready WR. And Thomas was locked up a year ago so neither of them can be the #1 WR on this team.
If your question is based on would I prefer a more physically dominant #1 WR with far better career stats than Wright then the answer is of course I would but why the hypothetical? Surely you aren't trying to pitch Wright as being the equal of either Cooper or Thomas.

I'm not, and I agree with your assessment of Cooper and I was on board with drafting him....but last year one averaged 72 yards a game and the other averaged 67 yards a game. A lot in this league depends on the opportunities afforded to a player.

Hope Springs Eternal in the Human Breast.......even one located in Croatia huh?
I have to disagree personally if only because I believe that a weapon has to be proven to actually work as advertised before you can actually call it one. Guns without bullets can't hurt anyone and any offense Fox and Loggains seem to run also seems to be mostly unloaded. Even more so now sans AJ.
The odd thing is here we sit debating Wright when it was actually Wheaton who Pace spent more of his money on so in reality he's the guy we should be looking at to replace AJ. Wright is on a 1 year deal that only guarantees him $1 mil. Wheaton got 2 years and $6 mil guaranteed.
OK, I"ll submit to the possibility that anything could happen if you'll agree that a pair of sub 6' 190lb WRs aren't exactly who you'd normally tab to replace a 6'3" 220lb WR with Pro Bowl credentials who was a top 5 UFA this year just like Jeremy Langford who was drafted to replace Matt Forte didn't.
