If the dough hasn't started rising halfway through the process, it's time to start over. Fox is halfway through his contract, right? He's won fewer games in 2 years than Trestman did in one. The dough isn't rising, it's falling.
As far as getting closer, I say addition by subtraction. Subtract Logjam, Cutler, Hoyer, Barkley and Fox for starters. I don't have any football connections so don't ask me who we can get to replace them that's better. That's Pace's job. He has a whole crew for that. I just know we need to replace these guys.

You might be right ... and I'm not saying I am . It's just my opinion fwiw .

aren't we all just expressing our opinions? I don't know or care if I'm right or wrong, it's just the way I see it. And I'm not trying to change anyone else's opinion either. I appreciate everybody else's viewpoints. Gives me something to think about that I may not have.
Blue if we were ever "in" these last two games would you share for vision for what "out" looks like? Yikes. If anything this team had every reason to fight even harder and be better in 15 and 16 than they were in 1 and 2 and today they plum quit.....or at least some did.
As for the rest of the season they don't give out trophies for passion and effort or moral victories and this is not the Special Olympics even though some games looked like it. Like I've been saying some of you expect way too little and that is exactly what you get.
Never said we were 'in' those last 2 games - and lets cut the bullcrap about 'trying even harder' in weeks 15 & 16 . When ur not playing 'for' anything and ur nearing the end of the line , you don't play 'as' hard as you would if you were . And that affects whether or not you had that extra step and a half that lets you make the tackle ... and alot of times that IS the difference between 'making' the play or not making the play .
I'm looking at the whole picture here , not hanging my hat on the last 2 games and trying to use that as the 'reason' to put the kabosh on Fox and his staff . There are plenty of reasons for this record and they're 100% VALID . I'm not sold on Fox & Co , and they better make giant strides in 17 or I'll be at the end of my rope with them also - but not until then . You don't say " this dough ain't gonna rise " when you haven't left it in the oven long enough .
Many of those guys are playing for their careers either with the Bears or elsewhere so every bit of game tape on them has at least some relevance. Apathy is catching though so that part I do understand but man if I make a half mil to a mil a year just as a journeyman backup whatever I'm gonna make sure no one sees me loafing on a game tape.
And I would submit that after two years of significant under performance the recipe is not the correct one not that we forgot to add the yeast. We did and the cake didn't rise, it fell. So do you still want to spend a 3rd year frosting a ruined cake? It seems like that's all we're doing here.

It easy to not look like ur loafing when , essentially , you really aren't ... ur just not giving that extra 15% at times , like you would if u were actually playing 'for' something . Plus , when ur nearing the end of the line , when u can see that finish line at the end of the marathon , and ur tired and hurting and there's no 'real' reason for punishing yourself , and ur record sux ... sorry but it's human nature to sort of 'coast' , some . And spare the ra-ra speech bs - you already know , that they know what they think of you , by that time in the season - and if ur jobs secure you know you don't have to worry about it . The ones who have to keep on tying ( ra-ra ) are those guys who know they're still on the bubble ... and when not everyones giving that extra , there's usually not much you can do that's gonna affect the outcome , and the 'team' loses .
We know what you think about Fox & Co as most of ur recent posts ( which have all said basically the same thing ) have clearly shown . And like I've said , I'm not sold on him either . Yet , when he's actually had SOMETHING TO WORK WITH , he fields winning teams . So , in the interest of looking at things REALISTICALLY ... and not wanting to go back to ground zero AGAIN , and start from scratch AGAIN ... and cuz I believe they are starting to show subtle signs they are about to improve ... I'm willing to give it 1 more year .

Well I'm about 99% positive on this early Wednesday morning that's what's gonna happen and although I have no say in the matter I will always take a stand and defend that stand if that's what I believe in. I don't think you guys would want me to do it any other way.
I've been pretty used not always getting what I want ever since Santa brought me the wrong train set for Christmas when I was 6. The absent minded old bastard.
So Que Sera Sera, I'll just have to lower my expectations again but to be honest it's as much the continual mismanagement of this team in nearly all phases that has me even more bothered than Fox. That's a bottom up thing and I'm a top down style manager. So the whole mess is just wrong and dysfunctional to me but that's up to the McCaskeys to fix and they don't seem interested in doing it so I expect little or no change and very similar debates a year from now too.

See my post in the " McCaskeys Need To Give Fans Something To Believe In " thread . I'm giving up on this franchise if they don't turn it around next year . I'm gonna start watching a 'winning' fb team again one way or the other , cuz I'm not interested in wasting my time anymore watching horseshit .

Blue I think that is a message that every loyal Bears fan out there should send to the McCaskeys. In fact I have an idea. I think we might all take our shots in that thread to tell them our impressions of how they've handled this team for the past 30 years and that without change at the very top we will no longer support the team until those changes are made.
I'll take that and put in a letter to George McCaskey explaining who we are as group and what we represent which is a microcosm of the feelings and emotions of many other Bears fan like us who aren't quite as organized into a fan site such as this one. As a group we are a very representative cross section of millions of other Bears fans much like us.
That's a message he should receive and I will offer him an opportunity to respond to us in whatever manner he chooses including posting here if he likes. I feel it's time to do more than just mount passive protests between ourselves as opposed to addressing them to the one man who represents the teams interests to us. That is what I believe we should do.
I think when players are not good it's easy to look like you've given up. Half our starting defensive back field, maybe more than that, were guys who were cut by other teams, some more than once,...you think they gave up? No...they just aren't very good! Add in a guy who was out of the league at starting QB and you get what we have here.
