Many wondered following Matt Barkley's five-interception performance against the Washington Redskins in Week 16 if David Fales would get a chance to play in Week 17, but head coach John Fox has made his decision.
Fales joined the team after Jay Cutler went down with a shoulder injury following the team's Week 11 loss to the New York Giants. A former sixth-round pick of the Bears in 2014, Fales has not seen any time in a regular season game.
He spent the majority of the last two seasons on Chicago's practice squad, but offseason shoulder surgery and an illness caused him to miss time this offseason. Connor Shaw outplayed the former draft pick during the preseason, and the Bears let go of Fales before the start of the year. He landed in Baltimore with former head coach Marc Trestman but did not spend any time on the active roster.
Chicago signed Fales off Baltimore's practice squad and he has been battling an injury to his hand the last two weeks. Barring an injury to Barkley on Sunday, Fales will go three full seasons without taking a regular season snap.
Not yet, they just Faled to name him the starter. They have also Faled to admit he could play in case of injury or major suckiness (a lot of BARKley with no bite).
We won't know till the game's over whether they Faled to play him.
