I honestly never saw what others saw in Tyrod. I think most of his hype has been from fantasy football as he was actually pretty productive there. As an actual NFL QB he's barely average. I have no issues with giving him a look if he's a FA but I'm not giving him a big contract.

I never advocated a big contract but rather a one or two year prove it deal.

I totally agree with highlight #1. I think highlight #2 is being kind, IMO he is at best a little below average.
If we had a poll on this I think the two highest vote options would likely be NO and F--- NO.

That is fine by me. That is what is great about this board. We can discuss ideas without issues.
"If Taylor isn’t the solution for the Bills, who have been searching for a quarterback since Jim Kelly retired 20 years ago, why would he be the answer for the Bears?"
LOL, because we always see ourselves as the smartest guy in the room :-)

I just think he is another QB who has failed with another team. If you can take a risk on a QB in drafting one, why take the risk in either trading for the guy and taking on a pretty pricey contract. Or waiting for the Bills to release him and then bid on the open market and dealing with a multiple bidder environment. Either way we would likely end up with a multiple year deal with possibly some guaranteed money. The league is pretty QB hungry and Tyrod Taylor could end up being the next Brock Osweiler.
Taking a QB who is in this years draft pool has plenty of risk/downside too. But at least you get the rookie contract structure to put a cap on the costs. Allowing the team more cap space for other moves.

Then that means he's a great prospect for us. Just the type we like. LOL
If he comes cheap I would not be opposed to the Bears giving him a look.
I totally agree. Assuming we get him as a FA with little or no guaranteed money.
I am just afraid that he will only be available under the two scenarios I laid out before:
In a trade with Buffalo. Look at his current contract. Over the next 5 years he is paid similarly to Cutler. His base salary starts off at $12 million in 2017 and goes up to $14.5 million in 2021. The up side is there is no guaranteed money in it. Maybe we could renegotiate it, maybe not. Based on his last couple of seasons, do you think he is worth money in the $12 million to $15 million range? If we traded for him, we would have to have a pretty solid agreement from Taylor and his representatives over a new contract. Otherwise we would have the choice of pay him or cut him.
As a free agent in the open market. This is where the market becomes the wild card. If we get him on a team friendly FA contract ... great. I think everyone would be OK if it was heavily loaded with incentives (like an extra 2 or 3 million if he starts more than X games in a season, etc.). But his contract would be based on the interest shown by the Bears and several other teams. If the market drives his cost up to a multiple year deal with several million guaranteed over multiple years, I'd want to take a pass on him.
I don't hate the guy, I am just leery that he will end up being way overpriced.

+1. I initially thought a flyer might be interesting but it has to be after he is cut. A one year deal heavy on incentives would be ideal. I floated 2/16 or 18M but the base salary would have to be incentive laden. Like 4M base and bonuses for games played, passing milestones, etc.
