It's happening to everyone. Here is a list of our notable injuries: Randall Cobb, Jared Cook, TJ Land, Bryan Bulaga, James Starks, Eddie Lacy, Jared Abbredaris, Clay Matthews, and our top three defensive backs: Quinten Rollins, Damarius Randall and Sam Shields....
You could put a pretty good team together with those players... That doesn't include our best offensive lineman going to the Bears....

to be honest our injury reports this year were always bigger than the team we were facing, sometimes even x3
It's happening league wide which gives even less credence to using injuries as an excuse for losing games we should be winning. I don't accept that myself.
But......we are getting healthier and getting some key guys back after the bye week and thereafter so we'll see what happens now that we may be getting closer to full strength.
If this rate of injuries continues it would be a good argument for expanded rosters.

I am really thinking of K White when I say this. Based on some discussions I had with my orthopedic surgeon (who specializes in sports medicine), injuries like White's shin injury are often caused by improper training and over-training (while doing things incorrectly).

Yeah, without knowing the specifics of his training regimen and his biomechanics that would be my guess. It's never just one silver bullet...there are usually multiple things going on. I'm of the opinion a lot of these guys just lift to damn much. Once you reach a certain point IMO you're strong enough, you have to work on moving correctly, landing mechanics, cutting mechanics, and a host of other things that will help keep you healthy. In my gym we have several NFL guys, some of whom are pro-bowl guys...they've never once bench pressed with us in the off season. They've never once put a bar on their back and squatted. Hell...they haven't even deadlifted. At this point they are strong enough! Now, thats not to say we don't do strength work...we do...we just do it in a manner that is orthopedically sound and won't stress their joints more than they've already been stressed simply by playing the game. That and we do a ton of speed work and jumps, which in and of themselves are max effort movements where the body is producing thousands of pounds of force. In return our athletes generally stay "pretty healthy"...as much as one can in the NFL. These guys are really nothing like guys that played back then. They are almost at the peak of genetic capability. They stay in shape basically year round...the NFL really needs to adjust it's thinking a little.
As for guys playing through injury....a large amount of them do. We have a guy who kept a concussion quiet because even though he just signed a new deal with a good amount guaranteed he was nervous the coach he played for would look down on him and perhaps get rid of him. Certain players don't have to worry about that as much, but believe me...these guys play through plenty of stuff. Thats why the NFL should follow every other leagues lead and ease up on the marijuana rules...but thats another discussion entirely.
