I agree MPB, but as I noted in another thread we still need a massive influx of talent on the Oline. How we survive Detroit, Minnesota, & GB in part depends on the Oline becoming a stable unit (however that may be). I fully expect us to be 4-2 going into the bye week when we should be 5-1 were it not for terrible playcalling & Oline performance.
Just being realistic here--this season isn't about a SB run. It's about getting ready to make a run (hopefully many). We have another offseason with 3 top picks coming to shore up the OL.
Meanwhile I like what I am seeing from our younger players -- Tyrique, Brisker, Gordon, Odunze, and Caleb most of all.
I'd add that the overall blocking (not just the offensive line but the entire blocking schemes) looks better. Yes, the OL needs a serious makeover in the off season. But the overall execution has improved over the course of these 5 games. It's not like the team is in crisis mode with the OL and the team needs to make a Claypool-type move mid-season. There are worse teams than the Bears right now for sure. I know we poke fun at PFF grades, and rightfully so, but they currently have the Bears OL ranked at #21 and that's with Pryor and Shelton - and Jenkins injured. Not good, but not catastrophic either. I watched that film clip that brasilbear posted today (the one with every all-22 on Caleb Williams' passing downs this past game). Two things stood out to me. He has a lot more time than he had early this season. Still not ideal but better. The other thing that stood out to me is how well Caleb has adjusted to working under center. Pretty impressive how quickly he has made that adjustment after being in shotgun his college career.
