January 8, 2023 — Texans quarterback Davis Mills completes a touchdown pass on 4th & 20 from the 28-yard line to Jordan Akins and finds Akins again for a two-point conversion. Texans upset the Colts, 32-31, in Week 18, moving to 3-13-1. The Chicago Bears secure the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
March 10, 2023 — Ryan Poles trades the pick to the Carolina Panthers for DJ Moore, the No. 9 and No. 56 (Tyrique Stevenson) picks in the 2023 draft, Carolina's first-round selection in the 2024 draft, and a 2025 second-rounder.
April 27, 2023 — On the clock, Poles trades the No. 9 overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for the No. 10 pick (Darnell Wright) in 2023 and a fourth-round pick in 2024.
April 25, 2024 — The Bears select Caleb Williams first overall with the Panthers' pick, and take Tory Taylor two days later with the Eagles' fourth.
As DJ Moore said on Wednesday, "Shout out to Poles for that. That was a good trade."
Oh, and don't forget about the 2025 second-rounder.

This could go down as not just the greatest football trade ever but maybe in all of major sports.
The ultimate decider of that is how Caleb turns out. If he winds up being a franchise QB, doesn’t even need to be an elite one, Poles will have pulled off the heist of the century.

Posters will still complain that Poles blew it. I'm expecting the "I said Williams was the 2nd best QB in the draft, Daniels was my choice from the beginning" posts to begin at some point.

Not to burst your bubble. But, the Herschel Walker trade with the Vikings essentially built the Cowboys a dynasty. Talk about fleeced on an embarrassing level.
People will bitch that he didn’t take Stroud last year too.
Like he’s supposed to have a crystal ball or flux capacitor and be able to travel through time.
What Poles did was masterful and honestly I would’ve been fine had he traded down again and kept going with the annuity that he created.
Even the best GM's make some mistakes, and some doozers too. I figure you just gotta hope that Poles can limit the bad ones, and also learn from mistakes. To me, that learning and growing part is what we are already seeing in Poles.
I'm hoping it continues in this London game - and especially after the bye week when we begin to play the big boys. I'm hoping the offense is ready for running the 6-game gauntlet of NFCN games. I do like the improvements we are seeing against the powder-puff teams though.
