He played solid ball for us when he was here. He'll be on the Seahawks' practice squad.
LINK Offensive lineman Jason Peters — at 42 years old — signs with the Seattle Seahawks practice squad for a possible 20th NFL season
The 42-year-old spent part of last season with the Seahawks, including two starts after being signed early in the season.
It will be Peters’ 21st season in the league, but he missed all of the 2012 season because of an Achilles injury. He has played at least one game in 19 seasons since his rookie year in 2004, including making 15 starts at left tackle for the Chicago Bears in 2021.
Peters — a nine-time Pro Bowl selection and six-time All Pro (two first team) — is one of five offensive linemen to play in at least 19 seasons, joining Lou Groza, Jackie Slater, Ray Brown and Bruce Matthews. All but Brown are in the Hall of Fame.
My father-in-law would be our best lineman. He's 88 and confined to a wheelchair.
Wheelchairs have sharp edges. And they can get in front of pass rushers. Sounds like an upgrade
It might clean up the false start penalties too, due to the slow reaction times of elderly guys in wheelchairs. I think that one of us needs to call and leave another message for Ryan Poles - this is yet another one of our brilliant ideas. I just hope the Halas Hall receptionist is getting these to him in a timely manner. I'll bet Poles has let her know to put a priority on 'em.
