Yes, I know we always talk about how they are meaningless. LOL, well, when we are moving down I figure they are
But it is nice to read some positive stuff about how the Bears are improving. I don't care if the win was against an injured Sean McVay team. It's still a win. The Bears took care of business winning a game they should have won. Improvement is there even though there are still things to clean up & the team will benefit from some more player upgrades in 2025. Still good stuff.
In the Yahoo Sports PR the Bears moved up from 23 to #18. NFL.com moved us up to #22. Pete Prisco - CBS Sports moved us up all the way to #14 (he must be a secret Kool Aid drinker but hey, good to read). Get this. The Athletic (a pretty solid source) move the Bears from 26 to #19. I figure that's a pretty legit indicator that the Bears are seen as an ascending team as Waldron, Caleb and this offense begin to put it all together, cleaning the bad stuff up. Even Mike Florio moved us up 5 spots.
19. Chicago Bears (2-2) (26) - At the moment, No. 1 pick Caleb Williams is suffering from the comparison to Jayden Daniels, but pretty much anyone would right now. The bad news for Williams: He’s 29th in the league in EPA per dropback (minus-.22). The good news: His weekly passer rating has gone 55.7, 51, 80.8 and 106.6. Sunday was his best game by far (73.9 percent completion rate, .23 EPA per dropback), and it coincided with his fewest number of dropbacks (26 one week after having 56). First-round wide receiver Rome Odunze has been fine (10 catches, 166 yards) but not spectacular.
