Hate to say it, but I don't think Flus is in danger unless this season goes really, really bad. The Bears changed HCs 1 year into both Mitch's and Justin's time here and that was a mess. It's generally not a good idea to have a lot of turnover when you're trying to develop a new QB.
This is why they should have wiped the coaching staff clean last January and started fresh so that everyone was aligned. Then you give the coaching staff 3 years (min) to get your young QB off the ground.
Harbaugh was available. One of football's best offensive coaches who knows QBing. Just sayin.....you had better options than Flus.
Instead it feels like we are reinventing the wheel yet again on offense.
Flus is a defensive coordinator and he has put together a solid defense. Poles hired Waldron to run the offense and Morgan to coach this offensive line. So let’s not lay this all on Flus, but he will be the target if it all goes South.
He's in charge. The buck stops with him. Last year his chosen DC was canned in-season as was one of his position coaches. Right after the season ended, his OC was canned as the fall guy.
Flus deserves credit, lots of credit, for what he has done with the D no question about it. The question that remains is whether he's a good HC or just a good DC.

I'm hoping the team and Eberflus shows significant improvement this year. That is a reasonable expectation in year 3. Just show significant team improvement - tangible evidence that this team is ascending. If Eberflus does well, then hey, I don't care what his background was getting to the HC gig (offense, defense, special teams coach). Be a team coach that understands all three phases well. If he doesn't get it done then move on. Same with Caleb Williams, by the way. He gets a mulligan for his rookie season. No problem with that. But if he's another dud QB then move on from him too. Obviously, this would be a few years down the road like Trubisky and Fields. But do what you have to do to build a good team. Keep the guys who prove to be good (players and coaches and GM for that matter) and move on from people who can't get it done.

Truth be told, Flus has taken over the defense (something he understands) and handed over the offense (where he lacks experience) to Waldron. If we end up with a top-5 defense and 7-8 wins, I know who I’d want fired, but I know it would probably be Flus.

The time to fire Eberflus was when Harbaugh was available.
The problem now is that after this season, who do you hire? Another coordinator happy to have his first HC job?
IDK, Mike Vrabel seems like a guy that might be a good fit for the Bears.
I think our fanbase would freak if we hired another HC who did not have an offense coaching background. They don't believe any success has ever happened with a head coach with a D background. I know. That is bat sh$t crazy, but hey, we're Bears fans and not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Bears fans always been a bit zany. But, the fact is that your current HC has a .294 winning %. (10-24) this is his 3rd year as HC. Compare that with say, Kevin O'Connell who is also in his 3rd year. .600 winning % (21-14) (0-1) Playoffs Dan Campbell 4th year is at a .490 winning (25-26-1) But made it to a Conference Championship last season that he choked away. Then the longest tenured guy is LaFleur with 6 years. .667 winning % (56-28) but he's 3-4 in the playoffs.
So, just by comparison to the rest of the division, as you can see the Bears are way off the mark. I wouldn't be too picky about finding a HC that can win. Gotta try something different at some point.

There is some context though. The first season was our tank season. The roster was nuked... scorched earth nuked of talent. And we did successfully tank and get the #1 draft pick. The 2nd season (last season) the team improved the last half of the season. Bears went 5-3 and looked like it was getting better. The defense really came on and improved over the course of that year.
Beginning this 3rd year we are 1-1 with what appears to be one of the best defenses in the NFL and (finally) for the first time since the 1939 draft of old Sid Luckman, we have (hopefully) an elite franchise QB. I think most of us posters here on this messageboard have agreed that 2025 would be the year the rebuild would be finished. That still looks very much a doable thing with 3 picks in the first two rounds next year. And the 2nd round pick is from the Carolina Panthers... should be nearly a 1st round pick. That should finish off the OL needs. So a reality check is that the defense is ahead of schedule (should be a top-5 of the NFL this year) and the installation of a new offense should be making progress as this year goes on. Think about it. It is a bunch of new players, new coaching staff (on offense), new coordinator bringing in a new playbook and new schemes - all led by a rookie QB1 tossed into the deep end of the pool day-1.
Who in their right mind would NOT expect some very rough play on offense? Right? That won/loss record includes a tank year, an 8-9 season, and now a 1-1 record. It is too early to panic... in fact stupid to panic. We should sit back, shut up, and watch what happens now. Could be bad. Could be good. We won't know until we know. And I'm fine with that.

I suppose you could make that argument. I wouldn't say the offense is flat or in a rough patch. Because they just haven't done anything in two games now. Simple as that. Better start showin something starting tomorrow. For all the Connor Bedard level hype the Chicago Media praised Williams with he looks pretty confused out there. That falls on the coaching or Caleb or both. Cause Bedard played on the shitiest team in hockey but still provided ample evidence that he means business and makes the big plays that special players do! Sure you're not getting Nagy and Trubisky all over again?
