Kevin Fishbain breaks it down in "The Athletic" for us. I agree, it is "brutal to watch" this. If you don't subscribe to The Athletic, hey, it is worth every penny to subscribe. Great stuff for sure.

Think about all your favorite football cliches about the run game. You have to establish the run. It starts up front. A good ground game sets up the passing game. Run the ball well to help your rookie quarterback.
Well, the Chicago Bears would benefit from heeding any of those.
In Week 2, running back D’Andre Swift had 14 carries for 18 yards.
you cannot run the ball when your OL gives up 3 yards at the snap. Maybe if they invested in a stud RB he could make something out of nothing, a legit dude like Sweetness or Barry Sanders, or a powerhouse like AP might be able to do something w/this mess; but not mid tier guys.
Montgomery was smart to get the hell out. His career would be over after this year if he re signed. Instead he's thriving in Det who built up their OL.

And that is yet another reason why investing solid assets in building a solid OL makes "good value sense" in the long run. That OL can elevate the play of the entire O roster of skill players. That elevates the ceilings (like Caleb, Rome, D.J., Kmet... etc.). Going cheap on the OL gives you... well we've seen the offenses here in Chicago. We KNOW what it gets us. It was on full-display in Houston on Sunday night.
