A side note about Bears fans. About as loyal as they come.

I just got back last night from traveling to the Houston game.  LOL, we drove part of the way and flew part of the way but we got there and back.  It is impressive to see how fans support the Chicago Bears at these away games.  We got off the plane in Houston and it was cool to see people with Bears jerseys.  Everywhere we went that weekend - restaurants, bars... everywhere you looked there were a LOT of people wearing their Bears gear.  At the stadium (at least) 40% of the crowd were Bears fans.  And that's probably a conservative estimate.  In our section the Bears fans were dominant cheering and chanting "Let's Go Bears" and supporting the team.

The scoreboard video was trying to capture pictures of Houston fans for various promotional things going on that night.  And it was comical how they inevitably had Bears fans around the person they were trying to highlight.  It was "white out" night for the Houston fans, and they were all encouraged to wear white.  Of course the stands had a LOT of navy blue and orange instead.  The kicker was when the scoreboard video highlighted a white shirted guy who they thought was wearing a white Texans jersey - only it was a Bears fan wearing a white #15 Rome Odunze jersey... you could see the camera guy was slow to catch the mistake and then pulled the camera off the dude... but I busted a gut laughing.

Finally, as my wife and I were going through airport security to fly back home yesterday, we didn't have our Bears gear on - but the TSA lady checking our drivers licenses looked up and asked, "Are you Bears fans too?"  We said yeah we were.  She said "they're everywhere today" and looked pretty surprised by all of them at the airport.

If ever there was a fanbase loyal to their team it is the Bears fans.  It is a damned shame the team can't put a better product on the field for them.
