We have certainly had high hopes with all of our past rookie QB's, and Jay Cutler when he first arrived here in Chicago. But the fan expectations for Caleb Williams seems to dwarf all of that past stuff.
LINK No pressure, Caleb Williams. The Chicago Bears QB just has to carry an entire city on his shoulders.
Gradual improvement? Rookie mistakes?
No one wants to hear about it. The possibility that Williams will struggle, as most rookie quarterbacks do as they learn the league, is not even whispered.
When former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick recently downplayed Williams’ preseason statistics, saying “there were some highlights, but they weren’t that good,” he was portrayed as a grumpy old man rather than a Hall of Fame coach.

The pressure to perform placed on Caleb is going to be a thing for the next 15 years.
He's a highly touted prospect, drafted #1 overall, into a founding franchise, where Chicago will always be a Bears town at heart.
As soon as he performs at a high level, which could be as early as tomorrow, he's going to own this town.
Talented. Young guy. Handsome. Charismatic. Interesting personality. Quarterback. It would be a "new" thing in Chicago to have a consistent winner with the Bears.
When he goes out there and kicks the crap out of the Packers in a few weeks it wouldn't surprise me if some Alderman introduced a bill to build a statue of him downtown.

If he can pull it off and be the guy, then it's going to be something mighty incredible. 19 hours and 48 minutes until kickoff... can't wait to see what we have in this team - and this QB.
