I really liked this article about Poles reaching out to Admiral McRaven, the former Navy SEAL who oversaw the infamous SEAL Team Six during their now legendary raid to kill Osama Bin Laden. Poles had everyone on his staff read Admiral McRaven's book and then they had a Zoom meeting where everybody could
ask the admiral questions.
In a recent interview, Poles said it was his goal to develop the best scouting department in the
world. Cunningham will be a good GM for another franchise and probably be gone next year. But I love how Poles is all about building leaders from within to step up. I expect the same thing to happen when Shane Waldron becomes a head coach... I expect the Bears already know who will step into those shoes. I love the leadership. I love the development of others. I love the planning too. I think the Bears finally landed a good one in Ryan Poles.
