Just got done watching.
I may be in the minority because the announcers were praising the D at the beginning but honestly, I did not think either the O nor the D played well. The D flashed a few times but I still really did not feel like they were dominant and were letting too many run plays get by them.
But then both the O and the D started to dominate. Not sure if it was coaching adjustments, the players getting comfortable but it was like the light switch went on. After that point, I think I can only remember one throw that I would consider bad from Williams. And I can't really say really bad. He just overthrew the receiver. And to the good, I saw more from him than I have seen in a long time. long throws are right there, he has elusiveness, he can improvise and he was just plain fun to watch. I kept wondering if that was a Bears QB out there. Again, I don't want to crown him until some real games get played, but boy he sure looks like he can do it. Quick decisions, good decisions, and accurate throws. I can't remember when we have had all three. Rome is looking really good too.
The defense was pretty dominant and impressive. If these guys can get off to a better start so they don't get behind a good team at the beginning, they are going to be tough to beat.
And hell, Bagent was great too. He is a goner as soon as his rookie deal is done. No way we can keep him and Williams. Just a great game after they woke up. There were so many good players out there that I did not give a shout out to, but I was just enjoying watching it, LOL

The thing about the game was that the Bengals did not play their first team, so not sure how that game would have gone considering the Bears slow start. But it was still fun to watch

The team seemed to do better as they got more reps. The way the league limits practices now, these guys need work like they got today, especially Caleb. You could see the team settle down and perform better as the game went on. The team looks like a good young team that needs work before the regular season begins. What impressed me most today was how the team made few dumb mistakes. Yes, they looked rough in the beginning but not like Bears teams of the past that would have way too many miscues (false starts, dumb penalties, clock issues... the endless list of a team not ready to play). This team looks better that way.
I liked how the team protected the football and they took it away from the opponent.
My greatest worry this off-season has been the offensive line. But it looks at least decent. The depth looks decent too. Not great, but I'll take decent this year.
Caleb looks like what he is - a rookie. He'll do something amazing one play and then make a mistake on another play. Not huge mistakes, but still there are things to improve and clean up. But clearly the guy is special. But that being said, he will have some rough games and we'll have some losses (obviously).

Park district too cheap to pay for paint to fill in the blank area? Kevin, get that stadium built ASAP!!!!
It really really sucked that the field wasn't prepared for NFL play like that. This is EXACTLY what you get when you "rent" a stadium like the Bears do. And the location is not good either, as far as the fan experience. I just quit going to home games and now go exclusively to away games. I am done with downtown Chicago. If the Bears build their own stadium in Arlington Heights I will start going to home games again.
