The guy never did show much once he was signed by the Bears. I was excited when the Bears got him, due to his past performance. But here on the Bears, even when he IS healthy, is so underwhelming. I don't understand why his play deteriorated here. But it has. The Bears could sure have used that $30-million dollars by spending it on another needed player who CAN play well. $30-million dollars just flushed down the toilet.
Sounds familiar. Deja vu. My old man memory forgets the name, Orlando Pace? But didn't we have a guy just like this a while back who was a pro-bowler somewhere else but didn't do squat for us?

I think it was Pace. Definitely not our first, nor will this be our last, rodeo.

Nah, Nate Davis is 27 years old. When the Bears signed Orlando Pace, he was 34 and the Bears had not done their homework if he was still a viable player. Davis should not be having trouble due to age. He should be hitting the prime of his career.
I guess Davis is going to try one last attempt at keeping his starting RG spot. I don't know if Coach Eberflus will support it or not though.

Age vs. effort. Thanks. Makes sense. I just remembered Pace doing nothing. Maybe it was Fred Miller? Or Frank Oh-My-Yell-At-Him or any number of our effortless turn-stile O-linemen over the years. Bears40 is right, won't be our first, or last lazy bum. Just hopefully not for long.

When you look at why he got the contract from the Bears that he did, it was a good signing.
Davis played RG all 16 games during the season Henry rushed for 2000 yards. He was 26 years old when he signed. His arm length is 33 1/8". All signs pointed to a stable solution at RG. He checked all the boxes.
Unfortunately, arm length is not an indicator of desire to practice after getting a decent payday.

That's silly that you even thought arm length would be an indicator of a desire to practice. Everyone knows it is finger length.

Specifically, the middle finger. The bigger that finger is - and the more it's used, the less desire there is to practice.
