This is a short read but a good one. I've noticed that Eberflus looks so "hands on" with Caleb's development. A fixture in the QB room and you see in the pics at practice how he is 1-on-1 working with Caleb (even the Hard Knocks episode picked up on this). I like how Eberflus didn't dink around with a sham QB competition that would have been a joke with that old school thing of "making him earn it" - like Nagy did with Justin Fields who did not get many reps with the #1's and was named the second-string quarterback behind Andy Dalton. Fields had "veteran mentors" in Andy Dalton and Nick Foles. Nagy (back then, the so-called QB and O guru) then tossed Fields into a starting role after changing his throwing mechanics. In hindsight it all sounds like madness what they did back then.
'Flus cut through the bull crap and from day-1 has been getting CW ready to go right away. No need for Andy Dalton and Nick Foles esq "mentors" and no screwing up his rookie season with new throwing mechanics. He is getting a ton of reps with great talent all around him (real and legit #1 talents).
Eberflus is a D-background head coach, just like Houston's head coach DeMeco Ryans, who is working with C.J. Stroud. I am convinced that if the QB1 is legit good, a defensive head coach can still be successful - even great (like D head coach Bill Belichick was with Tom Brady). A year ago a number of Bears fans wanted to see Poles and Eberflus fired. I'm thankful (so far) that we did not pull the plug on those two. Instead of starting over with GM/HC this year, we see a legit solid young team hitting its stride behind a young rising star QB1.

Even Bills Players Were Stunned How Good Caleb Williams Was
"The Chicago Bears have spent months working to get Caleb Williams ready. Head coach Matt Eberflus made it clear from day one that the rookie would be the starter. He’s the #1 pick. No competition. No veteran mentor. The car was his. He would have to learn how to drive it as quickly as possible. To that end, the coaching staff laid out a plan to prepare him. It involved throwing the entire playbook at him right away while also practicing against the starting defense every day. There was no easing into this thing... "
