What Schefter does say: Rookie contracts are formalities, but Williams seems to want to do his own things and be atypical. Wouldn't be surprised if his situation lingered a little bit longer...Won't be long until these guys have their deals done.
What Schefter doesn't mention: CBA. Schefter's part of the video literally lasts one minute. The rest of the video is Carmen/Jurko blabbing about contracts.
.........what are we doing here? If Williams holds out, he holds out. He should get as much as he can when he can get it. But...if the whole panic is based on Schefter saying he wants to "circumvent the CBA"...and...Schefter didn't say that...again, what are we doing here? Panicking just to panic? If there is a longer clip, and Schefter actually said it, then I take it all back. But in this clip, Schefter doesn't say what all the articles linking to this clip are writing that he said.
----- EDIT: That paradigm of sports journalism Erik Lambert is the one who tags the video with Williams wanting to circumvent the CBA. If we all banned sportsmockery from appearing in our browsers we'd all be happier.

They could be waiting to sign their contracts when the cameras are rolling for Hard Knocks. Caleb does like attention.
What I've seen/heard all over social media is it was either the NFL or HBO (or both) wants the actual signings of Williams and Odunze to be done with the Hard Knocks camera rolling.

And it should be a cool way to open the show. I'm REALLY looking forward to Hard Knocks covering the Bears.

Right? They have a show to produce, and a contract signing of what could be the best QB of the Chicago Bears is just easy TV.
To be fair, radio and these sports columnists also have a job to do, and fake worrying about not signing a rookie capped contract is just easy radio.
