Is Brax healthy? He could be to replace Brax or just backup. I don’t know. And if they have confidence in the rookie, why bring in a veteran?
As always, cost is a factor, too.
I can't imagine Bakhtiari taking a backup salary with his knee the way it is. He's got enough dough.
And signing him as a backup to any team puts enormous pressure on whoever is starting at LT. The way Poles is approaching the team, he is trying to keep the age range so that the players peak at around the same time. 32 turning 33 as an olinemen just doesn't seem to work since the Bears have options at LT.
I would say this. The last few years, when he played on a bum knee, he still played at a pro bowl level. If indeed his last surgery did work as he says….. his play when healthy was HOF level stuff. So his floor is pro bowl level. The contract he’s given will be fairly low and laden with incentives and very little guaranteed money. Do you have someone at LT at that level? He’s literally plug and play. Put him against the best pass rusher in the league and he won’t sniff the quarterback. And won’t need help doing it

If they were properly called it would look more like this:

We have to have something to whine about. In recent years it is all we have had 😊👍
