No, the 2016 SoS has nothing to do with this year, but when I look at that chart, the Bears have a .479 and when you sort them it is still good for 12th easiest SoS. Still not sure why you think only three games is reflective.
The 2016 SoS has nothing to do with this year? They played 7 games against playoff teams, and another 3 games against teams with winning records. The only teams they played that were truly shitty were Jacksonville and the 49ers.
ok, so I said that wrong. the 2016 SoS is what gets used to determine this years schedule to some degree along with with division we will be up against, etc. But it has nothing to with what the strength of the teams really end up being this year. So regardless, the ending SoS reflects that we played the 12th easiest schedule this year. That is really the data that matters.

I'm aware...which is why I provided an updated SoS which reflects the quality of the teams we played this year. That link I provided was the leagues SoS through week 15 I believe of this NFL season. 7 games against playoff teams, one of whom happened to be the best team in the league, another who ended up having the #1 defense in the league, 3 other games against teams with winning records...at the end of the year we had one of the harder schedules in the league when it was all said and done.

Before Pace can get the new QB, he has to find a HC that is on the same page as Pace is. Can you imagine how well Fox and Mariota would have worked together? I can't.

Where does this idea that Fox can't adjust to Qb's come from? Did he not have Tim Tebow in Denver? So yeah, I think Fox and Mariota would have been fine.
And this idea that it was a foregone conclusion that Dak would be as good as he was is simply false. If it were true he wouldn't have been a 4th round pick. There were major questions about his mechanics, his foot work, and the fact he never took a snap from under center.

Completely agree. There's a lot of hindsight bias regarding Dak. All 32 teams passed on him 3 times and some passed on him 4 times. In addition the questions about him you mentioned I believe there was as off-field issue or two if memory serves.
Regardless, even in taking him (in round 4) Dallas was not planning on starting or probably playing at all this year. He was a developmental prospect for the future and got handed the starting job out of necessity when Romo went down in PS. Even at that point he was supposed to be only the temporary starter until Romo healed up.
I give Prescott credit for the way he's played for sure but let's also remember that he fell into a near ideal situation for a rookie QB to start off with. He's got a very good receiving corps, a pretty decent defense, and the best OL & running game in the NFL to work with. And his team has been remarkably healthy all year since the RS began. He's had some very good luck mixed in there.

Amen! It's a mix of things when it comes to Dak. One...he worked his tail off by all reports to work on his weaknesses and to learn the playbook. Two, he fell into an unbelievably ideal situation in Dallas. He was not expected to start...heck he wasn't even supposed to be the back up, Kellen Moore was until he broke his ankle. So to think he would be what he was in Dallas here, or anywhere else for that matter...thats just a guess. Based on our running game, and if our receivers had stayed healthy...yeah I think he might have been alright...but I don't know that for sure.
Who said Dallas thought he was the future? They saw him as a potential backup and possible future down the line though, Romo has been hurt a lot and at the end of his career.
But even in pre season, if you followed Dallas news, there was talk about how Dak had spent his pre draft and pre TC time working on his footworks and other problems, and it was showing during TC.
I Don't think anyone said he would be a RotY candidtate here, but his work would have shown all the same, the bears certainly wouldn't have had to bring in barkley.

his time as HC isn't really that great when it Comes to rookie QBs...

LOL...you're basing this off the 1 year he had with Jimmy Clausen? My goodness. Again, Fox has worked with the like of Tim Tebow, and Jake Del Homme to a guy like Peyton...I think he's shown he can adjust to the type of QB he has. But please...keep the bias going.
