This is the offense that Shane Walron runs. Swift Sports explains this well, and how it is QB friendly - especially for a rookie QB. This is the O that Tom Brady and Peyton Manning excelled in. This is worth listening to.

Other than the simplified play-calling, the thing I heard in that the E-P offense is “run heavy” and features a lot of “play action passing” and varieties of formations. I think Waldron was hired because that’s the style of offense Eberflus wants.

Multi-dimensional will be the #1 attribute of this offense.
From what I can gather (and I admit I could be dead wrong) is that Waldron wants to have an offense that is multi-dimensional to the max. I don't think Waldron has ever had this level of talent in his toolbox to run his offense at its highest level. For that matter, I don't think many NFL teams have this level of O talent. I agree that the run will be a heavy-duty weapon, but so will the passing game... both will be used strategically to keep defenses off balance in games. This offense should be lethal once Caleb is comfortable running it. Gotta admit that I am still mentally processing the fact that the Bears - for the first time in my lifetime - have this kind of talent on offense. I don't expect the same offense from game to game. Waldron has an incredible array of tools to use on gamedays. It sounds like he will adapt each week to best exploit the opposing defense's weaknesses - and also - mix things up so the O is less predictable.

Waldron likes to run the Sean McVay/Kyle Shanahan variant of the West Coast offense that is very play-action heavy. If you dig into many of the analyses or description of the WCO, you will see some that use the run to set up the pass and others will say that you use the pass to set up the run.
Personally, I think that both descriptions are true as it requires a skilled offensive unit that can run very well and can pass very well. Then you use whatever dimension you have to use in order to inflict the most stress (aka gaining multiple first downs and scoring) on the defense as possible.

Right, play action passing works best when you have a good running game. This offense can do both.

As a fellow "old dude" how are you feeling about this developing Bears offense? I am still a bit stunned/numb because I've never seen anything like this in my lifetime as far as being a Chicago Bears fan. I know it's way too early to judge how good Caleb Williams will be - and how quickly he can develop. But David, I really think this guy could end up being one of the best QBs in the NFL (Hall of Fame level career). His raw mental and physical QB talent is off-the-charts. It will be fascinating to watch and see how quickly he can transition to the NFL play. While I don't expect great things this first rookie season - it is possible he does learn quickly and has a very solid year. I think the Bears have checked all the boxes for providing him the opportunity to do this - but the one box that may or may not be checked is the OL. Maybe it's good. I just don't know. If it is a solid OL and can remain relatively healthy, then wow... anything is possible this year. Wouldn't it be a stunner if the "Super Bowl Ready" year is now? LOL, I'm not saying it is. But hey, crazy things happen in the NFL.

My only concerns are whether middle of the OL holds up and can the DL get a pass rush. I’m still into Super Bowl ready 2025.

Well, the next Super Bowl is in 2025, so.... Let's Go Bears!
