A lot of the stuff I am seeing on resigning Ngakoue to another 1 or 2 year veteran contract is that he is a good pash rusher and he is familiar with the defense. I took his games last year where he was playing with Montez Sweat (aka the force multiplier) and factored them out to a 17 game season (taking his stats for the 5 games he played with Sweat and multiply by 3.4).
The results are pretty decent. I understand there are limitations in doing it, but it is at least based on a subset of real performance. The source data is Pro Football Reference.
7 Sacks 24 Tackles (Solo + Assist) 7 Tackles for Loss 10 QB Hots
Not HOF numbers, but not bad either.
I think signing a vet like Ngakoue is not a long term solution. If it gives us solid performance from our RDE position for the next year and we can fix it in the 2025 draft, it seems a workable solution to me.
