These Bears players seem like really good people as well as good players. I'm still a bit stunned we were able to draft Odunze. Love the pick.
What is really extra special about this is something I picked up on from that "Path to the draft" video posted by brasilbear.
The Bears had Williams ranked as their #1 player in the entire draft and they had Oduunze ranked as the #2 player in the entire draft. Higher than MHJ Jr or any of the other QBs.
That really stuns me. We got our #1 and #2 player with the #1 and #9 pick, and lost no additional draft capital.

+1 That video, "Path to the Draft" looked so impressive as far as the Bears front office people. It looks like the Bears have a high quality front office machine in place now to find the best talent that fits this Bears team. Hope they can keep a constant quality inflow of draft talent to support sustained winning. And hopefully this coaching staff proves to be the coaching machine to develop the talent and win. If this is the case then stability & continuity (as best as reasonably possible) should produce repeated successful seasons here. Yes, if the Bears are successful then the other teams will poach our rising stars in the front office and coaching staff - that's just the product of being a great sports franchise. But hopefully the infrastructure is in place now to groom the best of our guys to be promoted into those positions and be successful. That (to me anyway) seems better than blowing something up and changing what has proven here to work (an example would be promoting a promising O coach to OC to backfill for Waldron if he's a head coach hire... then seamlessly keep the offense and schemes in place so you're not having to bring in new players to best fit an outsider's scheme so you don't have the square peg into round hole thing again.

I have come around to the opinion that the McCaskeys have finally realized that they know next no nothing about how to run a successful NFL franchise. And none of their old-guard associates do either. At least as long as George McCaskey is in control. And I am also very comfortable with both Warren and Poles. They seem to have put together a really solid back office organization. Poles seems to have developed in to a pretty solid GM.
IMO this is the most important unit in a NFL franchise. Not that the coaches and players are not important. Just that you have to have the part about building the team, hiring the coaches, etc down before you can really put a championship caliber team together.

For years I have been beating that drum. Some have said players are the most important, but I agree that management is the most important. Great management will bring in great players. But it does not work the other way around. Players have no way to bring in great management. It all flows down. Get the management in place and the rest will be taken care of.

That is a great way to put it, and I do agree. We often gripe about ownership, but really, most pro sports franchise owners are far from perfect. That is never going to change. But if an organization can get the front-office right, then that is key to sustaining success. It is key due to the fact the FO people have the skills to replicate what is good and correct what isn't. Yes, any pro sports franchise will go through ups and downs, an ebb and flow of good and bad times - but the great organizations have solid front office people who put a quality product out, most years. This is what makes me feel pretty good about the present Bears situation. It is looking like the franchise finally has the FO set for success - sustained success. I keep thinking about how there were many Bears fans, just 8 or so months ago, who wanted everyone fired. But that wasn't the answer. It was too soon to be firing people and starting over. I think we need to enjoy this time and be patient as these young new players (exciting players) mature into a great team. Good times to be a Bears fan.

+1 And really that is true for any business also. If the management is bad then don't expect the business to be great. But if the management is rock solid then chances are that the business will be solid. It's not just a sports thing. I feel like this Bears franchise is entering into a very good time due to the management being (finally) solid. Right now is a good time to trust their judgment with these coaches and players. Yes, they won't get it all perfect, but the management looks competent, to a level that we should see a lot of success over the years. Personally, I'm a happy camper if the team is one of the better ones in the league each year. For me it doesn't come down to a pass/fail of winning a super bowl by a certain year. Sure we all want to see the team win a SB. But for me it would feel mighty good to watch solid football on gamedays instead of the pitiful stuff we've had to watch in recent years. LOL, maybe I'm setting my benchmark too low, but I'm being honest here. Let's just start by winning our division and go from there. This management team will get us a championship. At least I think so. Does it have to be by 2025 or we fire everyone again and start over? Hell no. JMO.
