Only if they got the OL right. It appears they believe a new QB and added weapons will help improve overall the OL. Could be a qb playing w/in the system and on schedule might elevate the OL in ways that fans aren't expecting.
But if they are wrong, that is a huge gamble and Williams will suffer b/c of it.
And I remind myself that we don't know what the Bears see in this roster at this point at OL. I'm on the outside looking in. I don't know anything at this point about the OL. Brax and Wright should be really good this year (3rd and 2nd seasons respectively). Nate Davis had an off year. He is considered a really solid G, and he's young... so maybe we will see the "real" Davis this year and be impressed. The new C could be solid, heck I don't know yet and none of us fans do. He has to be better than what we've had recently though. At least that's a reasonable assumption. Jenkins is the wild card. If he's healthy the guy is a stud. If not then hopefully our depth is solid enough to be solid there (and we really don't know about the depth quality yet... some of the young guys could be ready to shine now, we just don't know as fans at this point).
Yeah, I'm in that wait and see mode for now. You're 100% right though. If they are wrong that is a huge gamble and Williams will suffer b/c of it.
I don't know if we get to say "The Bears are back". They have not relevant for almost 20 years, and even then the offense was weak.
I think it's more "The Bears are finally showing up in the modern NFL".
That's it. And I keep wondering why on earth the franchise didn't "get it" before Poles/Eberflus got here, - that yes, you need a solid passing offense to win in the modern-era NFL? It's a "water is wet" thing. But for whatever reason previous regimes didn't get it done on offense except for an occasional good season here or there. Pace/Nagy sure didn't get it. Poles/Eberflus do.

One name. A family name. McCaskey. When they had their fingers on the team, the team sucked. They have FINALLY learned to let football men run the team. And we now have a team. A real honest-to-goodness NFL team.

I honestly do not think that has been the case since Michael McCaskey. I honestly believe the disfunction since that time has been due to ownership not having brought in the right people. Their loyalty to Ted Phillips has prevented them from replacing him with a real manager. Luckily, it seems that they have replaced him and with someone that can do the job in Warren. I do not think that George is very involved. He just never let go of Phillips and so the hires have just sucked. Constantly the wrong GMs and coaches. He even tried to use consultants, but Phillips was always involved until recently.

Like the McCaskeys, I consider teddy a member of the family.

Bringing in Poles started the organizational changes being made, including bringing in Warren.
