I felt some validation last night when JPJ was not seen by the NFL as the best C in this draft. Graham from Duke was the C taken in the 1st round last night. LOL, I was beginning to doubt myself when I just didn't see him as being that good. Good? Sure. But not the best in this draft class. And I don't see him as the best remaining C either. I'd take Frazier from WV as the top remaining C now... he'd be a great fit for the Bears. And I would probably take Van Pran from Georgia over JPJ too.
No question JPJ is a good player though. He'd be my 4th guy at C. And I wouldn't have a fit if he fell to the 3rd or 4th round to us (he probably won't fall that far though).
In all fairness, Barton is a total stud who can literally play all 5 positions. He will be a G or C in the NFL.
+1 I know. But going back a few months I was not on the JPJ bandwagon. At one point we had a poster saying it would be okay to spend our #9 pick on him. I have liked Frazier and Van Pran (both) over JPJ. Don't get me wrong, I do believe he'd be a great C for us. I just like the other two guys better. Even a couple of months ago I felt like we could get one of these remaining guys with that #75 draft pick. I still feel we could. But there could be another player at a different position that is graded out better - and I'm fine with that.
My only point is that I didn't exactly view JPJ as saving the Bears franchise as our only hope at C.
Nope, I would trade up if JPJ falls to a mid 2nd round pick.

You should never have doubted yourself.
Graham Barton 32 7/8" long arms
Zach Frazier 32 1/4" long arms
Jackson Powers-Johnson 32 1/4" long arms
It's quite easy to see how right you were.
Oh, wait. Sedrick Van Pran is 31 3/8" long arms. Okay, you can doubt yourself a little bit.
