I had no problem with the FG call. The pass on 3rd down is what I had a problem with.
knowing you have 2 downs to get in the endzone really affects what kind of 3rd down call you can make.
+1 Especially when you have an OL run-blocking well and an RB ripping off 5ypc in the game. There is no power on earth that was gonna deny Howard that end zone if he had 2 attempts at it. And it would have run down the clock so that Aaron Rodgers couldn't come back on us. Instead, Barkley (Mr 4-turnover day Barkley) tries to pass and burns zero clock. We take the FG instead. At that point we gave the game to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. Rodgers never broke a sweat breaking our back and winning the game for the Packers.
Yep, and when he did run they were all slow off the line or sloppy routes, you know b/c that's how WR's in a contract year play.
Somewhere I read that Barkley and Hoyer often pre-snap will find the double/rolled coverage and disregard that read from the get go. They quoted a scout as wondering if they were coached to do that. The Scout claimed that teams will show a double coverage and then bail at the snap into another DEF, and thats what happened in the Indy game where Jeffery was running free but Hoyer never looked his way. The DEF is then able to not even look at Jeffery or whoever they double pre-snap because they know the Bears won't go back to that guy. Its a way to make the Bears play with 'one less man" on OFF.
Smart defensive scheming vs dumb offensive play. That'll get you beat nine times outta ten........or eleven outta fourteen. Take your pick.
