Interesting film breakdown. Compares Caleb favorably with Andrew Luck. They point out how Trevor struggled with a crap team his rookie season. They make the point about brain-dead "fans" having unrealistic expectations for a rookie QB too. Good stuff.
This is an excellent film breakdown by Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner. A Super Bowl Champion and two-time NFL Most Valuable Player. Of course he isn't one of the tinfoil hat people bitching about the color of cell phone Caleb has... so there is that.
He points out the good and the bad, both. I like that a lot. The common theme I am seeing in these film breakdowns by knowledgeable people (like a Super Bowl winning QB and a Hall of Fame guy here in Kurt Warner) is that Caleb Williams is a very special talent who has the mental gears (mental processing of the game realtime) that is elite. He repeatedly says "I like the process, I like the process" and says you get an idea of "what a guy is capable of" on the next level.
Over and over again he says he loves how Caleb Williams processes in the pocket. He talks about how he "takes advantage of defenses" - "beats the pressure with throws getting the ball out quick" "finds the 1-on-1 and gets the ball out quick" - these are quotes. LOL, you'll hear countless comments by Kurt Warner about the quick processing, "seeing" the pressure and reacting well. Works through his progressions and continues to process information quickly.
Of course we are hearing the tinfoil hat boys talking about how Caleb doesn't have the right color of cell phone... LOL.

That right there is the difference maker. What I hope will give us an elite QB
That right there is the difference maker. What I hope will give us an elite QB
That is the bottom-line attribute that gives me hope. I don't know if the kid will pan out or not, but at least he seems to have the mental CPU to process the game at a high level. After all of these failed quarterbacks here in Chicago, I've come to believe it isn't all about having a strong arm. Heck, almost every drafted QB has a strong arm these days. It's the mental processor that separates the good from the bad QBs. Caleb seems to have that. I do believe he has a steep learning curve to climb. Especially that first season. Hopefully he can climb it.

I think we all want him to succeed
I think maybe this has been the Bears motto for QBs: "If at first you don't suck seed, keep on sucking til you do suck seed."
We sure have been sucking at QB for a long long time.
