I guess it comes down to the fact that this is going to be our quarterback, so why on earth would we begin painting this young man in a negative light before he even gets here and puts on that Chicago Bears uniform? Why do that? I just don't get it. I don't think it is being intolerant so much as being tired of this type of negativity. This is going to be "our guy" leading our team. Can't we be happy about that and at least give the guy a fighting chance to prove himself here? It's just the times we live in now. I don't think it's just a "sports thing" but a people thing right now.
The Chicago Bears have made some of the best moves I've seen this franchise make in decades. Will they pan out? Maybe. Maybe not. But I'm really going to focus on being positive about our team, at least until they prove to be undeserving of that positivity. This is a GREAT time to be a Bears fan. Right?
I get that. I do. And I like seeing an array of critique on our players. But some of this stuff coming out right now about Caleb Williams is questionable at best. And I even find myself wondering if there is some agenda here to smear the kid and maybe even poison the fan base a bit before he even arrives here in Chicago... like do we REALLY care about his choice of cell phone color... what's the agenda there to do Internet videos about that? Some of it is so transparently wrong and even hateful. And some of it is just plain ignorant stuff too. Yes, like any living and breathing QB he doesn't do well under extreme pressure from defenses - and he had a horrific offensive line this year. What pisses me off is that the kid actually did pretty darned well under THAT level of pressure. For many years I've watched guys like Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers have downright bad games under extreme D pressure (Mahomes in a SB didn't do so well when his OL folded on him).
We are about to draft a very gifted quarterback. He is coming to a pretty decent situation too. Poles has done a lot to improve this roster in the fairly brief time that he has been here, rebuilding from the mess left to him. This is a GREAT time to be excited about the Bears in general and in our new QB1 in particular.
