Funny, when talk starts about dumping Fox usually the usual suspects jump in demanding DEMANDING who should replace Fox, as if demanding a poster name a replacement to validate the idea that Fox should be fired is required (you'd think they would have learned from the "Jets can't sign MW AND Fitzpatrick. THEY CAN'T its IMPOSSIBLE" debacle**)
But now that a name has leaked its suddenly not a bad idea. Funny.

THEM:WHO IS GOING TO PLAY QB!!! WHO!! TELL ME NOW!!!! US: Well. they could.. THEM: IMPOSSIBLE!!! US: Well, Fitz.... THEM: NOPE CAN'T SIGN MW AND A QB!!! WE SHOULD TRADE OUR 4TH FOR MW!! US: They won't take a fourth, but they could.. THEM: NOPE!! IMPOSSIBLE!!

Jim Harbaugh said that would be his dream job though...
Then he isn't too bright
In this case it's you that maybe missing the point. The Bears have hit rock bottom under Fox. The next HC will have nothing but upside with the Bears, he damn sure couldn't bring the Bears down anymore then they already are.

What exactly does one have to do with the other? They're literally two different things. And next time @ me bro! lol
The statement that there is still a lot of deception only proves the point I've been making all along. This is all the result of very weak leadership at the top and it will only be resolved by fixing it at that level. Teddy Bears and the McCaskeys can't handle the job.
Pace has been a major improvement over Emery but Fox has not been an improvement over Trestman. You can add to that my opinion that he's been the wrong mentor for Pace all along. Change that and we may see improvement quickly. Don't change it and we won't. It's pretty much just that simple.
I agree Soul, I keep hearing that if Polian were to be brought in, that it would be some kind of statement against Pace; imo it would be a statement of Swetty Teddy and the Mc's need help more then Pace does.
The only improvement of Pace over Trestman is in the locker room, but the locker room after Lovie was fired was never going to accept another HC, just so happened Emery hired the absolute worst HC for that issue; a guy that treated players like adults and gave them the locker room to themselves. Add that Lovie's dovie's Briggs and the others and it was doomed from day 1. Fox hasn't had to deal w/that, those guys are long gone the team is much more full of FA and young draftees and I'm not sure anyone on Def remembers Lovie; shit I think only Cutler and AJ do now. Much more accepting of a locker room.
Game day decisions haven't improved at all, and the record shows it.
That's exactly what it is Ric. This is no longer a bottom up problem that can be solved by simply getting better and healthier on the field. The problems are far more complex than that. This is a top down problem that IMHO will only be solved once the McCaskeys are willing to admit as GSH once did that they alone cannot manage this team well no matter who they put in charge at the GM level. Not when that guy reports to either Teddy Bears or them. It's the blind leading the blind or at the very least obscuring the view of a GM.
If you look across the horizon of failing or flailing NFL franchises one thing pops out. They are all run by non-football owners whose main objectives seem to be an accumulation of wealth via the increase in the value of those franchises. The Bears could potentially spend every nickel they bring in and the value of their franchise is still increasing by about $60 mil per year win or lose and Teddy Bears had made it quite clear that's where his focus is not on winning football games. That alone makes him one of my least favorite people so replace him with someone whose job it is to assure the franchise begins to win again on the field as well as off.
If they won't do that I swear this will not change. The losing culture can't only be fixed in the locker room and Fox's tenure is proof of that. You're right. He hasn't had to deal with what Trestman did but it hasn't made much of a difference if any has it? John Fox is not the right guy for this team. That much I'm certain of and I've already stated all of my reasons for thinking that. Bill Polian may not be the right guy for that top job but there are others equally qualified. The problem is they won't come to work for the Bears as long as Ted Phillips is CEO and has the authority he does. You'll only get guys like that as GSH did with Jim Finks by assuring them it's their show and they answer to no one when it comes to running the team. GSH did that until the Ditka hire and once he did it Finks quit.
If the McCaskeys won't do that and make this top down change this team is going nowhere no matter who the HC and QB are and you can etch my comments in stone of you like because I'll be glad to stand behind them. Thirty years of McCaskey mismanagement have led to this. We're right back where we were about 1990 or so with a HC whose not any more correct for this team than Wanny was. The only real improvement is Pace over that dikhead Mikey and then only if they'll let him do the job his way which I don't believe they are. He needs some help and it can't come from above and shouldn't be coming from Fox. The guy has lost 2 out of every 3 games he coached so what kind of insanity says he should be given one more year especially if we send even more offensive talent packing?
This is a HC who got his ass handed to him in a SB even though he had Manning, the #1 offense in the NFL and a pretty fair defense to boot and he got hammered by a team with a rookie QB and I mean hammered like the '85 Bears hammered NE. In four years in Denver that was the only year he even got past anything other than a Wild Card game in the playoffs so why does anyone think he's the guy to lead us back to consistent playoffs and a championship game? Even Lovie was a far better HC than John Fox. It was a mistake but you don't compound it by keeping the status quo only because you'll have to play the guy off. If that's the decision then all it proves once again is that nothing up top has changed and until that happens like I've been saying BOHICA for as long as it stays that way.
People not in control (IE FANS) always want cathartic experiences after negative events. Firing Fox for a Cooter ain't gonna make this squad better. I want to see Georgey boy show some balls and stick to his guns. Fox got a 4 year contract, give him 4 years to turn this ship around.

Amen. The only actual validation needed should be his 9-20 record to date and if anyone honestly thinks that will improve in the next two weeks well then please don't Bogey that joint. If we win either game it will be more by accident than intentional.
Even with one win of the two that would still leave Fox with a record of losing 2 out of every three games he's coached and it's not like we're seeing some upswing in that with a late season winning streak are we?
JJ pretty much nailed it. Trestman and Tucker took us down below the surface and Fox has been little more than the rock who took us to the bottom. I can't see any way untying from that rock can hurt one bit. One way or another we're starting over again anyway so do it but do it right this time and hire the right decision makers at the top.
This idea of needing to bring in consultants to do what owners can't has gone on way too long. It goes all the way back to the hiring of JA as our GM over 15 years ago. Turn the damn front office over to football people now and sit back and clip coupons. If the McCaskeys won't sell at the very least they need to take their hands off the throttle.
