This was in the Chicago Tribune (Brad Biggs). Sounds like Caleb, as a person, is a really good guy. Personally, listening to his interviews, he sure comes across that way. He has great interpersonal skills and communication skills. The more that comes out about this guy, the more I like him - as a person as well as a player.
Regarding Caleb, the player, I did like this quote of a national scout:
“It’s almost like he’s where Mahomes was after two years in the league” .
LINK They arrived in California feeling good about Williams the player and eager to learn more about the person. After spending parts of three days together, it’s safe to say the Bears have made a large step toward making Williams the No. 1 pick on April 25. First they met with Williams and a collection of USC teammates who also participated in Wednesday morning’s pro day on Monday night at the Bird Streets Club, a trendy private spot in West Hollywood. The Bears got to spend time with Williams and also see how he fit in with teammates. They’ve gotten strong reviews in that area for months as they sought input from teammates, coaches and staff members past and present. What’s he like? How does he fit in? Is he authentic? The responses have been overwhelmingly positive. On Tuesday, the team spent nearly half the day on campus with Williams at the football facility: talking ball, doing work on the whiteboard and watching film. Williams’ attention to detail struck the Bears. He was the one taking notes — not team officials — as they studied the game and sought insight into Williams’ acumen and how he processes and learns.
Let’s hope they draft him as if we don’t, I can see heads exploding.
As much as I would like "The Haul" for trading away this guy... getting a true great franchise QB is more important than the haul scenario. I think it would go down as the worst mistake any Bears exec has made in their 100 year history. Passing over a first-ballot Hall of Fame QB in Patrick Mahomes STILL hurts a lot. Doing the same thing again would probably be something sports fans remember forever (and I'm not just talking about football sports here). Even if the Bears draft him and he busts, people can deal with that due to him being the consensus #1 guy. Folks can deal with that. But if the Bears try to be the "smartest guy in the room" here and pass on this dude - and he ends up as yet another elite QB FOR SOME OTHER TEAM - well, that will never be forgiven by the fans. Ever.
Kevin Warren & Ryan Poles would have to go into a witness protection program after that one.

At this point, Poles would not trade Williams for a Trey Lance+++ deal.
The biggest takeaways for me, from his pro day, are:
1) His dad kept his distance. He stayed in the background let Caleb do his thing, and did not try to interrupt or intervene with Poles, Eberflus, and other players. This is new behavior, as previously he dictated Caleb's every move and was almost a "Shadow." I'm hoping someone talked some common sense into this guy and made him realize this isn't about him, and it's about his son, and that his constant influence isn't always a good thing.
2) Caleb's teammates at USC love the guy. Several interactions were captured with many, many of his USC teammates that show he is not only admired by them but also respected by them
3) Caleb (actually, I should say his dad) had previoulsy indicated (multiple times) that Caleb would not play for the Bears. Caleb's interaction with the Bears indicates this is no longer the case. Now whether that is a result of Caleb telling his dad to mind his own damn business or if they both had a change of heart (as a result of going #1 overall) remains to be answered.

+1 Caleb is clearly loved by his teammates. The misinformation out on social media sure looks like pure crap. It makes you wonder what the agenda was behind the negative stuff that was put out there.

Packer brass trying to stop us from drafting him?
I know it is delusional thinking on my part. But gotta admit I wondered if Washington or the Pats had an agenda here. These rumors get reported once on social media and they get picked up and endlessly repeated until folks believe it as truth. It's not just a "sports thing" but the way it is on social media now. Same with "news" sources. One news outlet puts something out there and the rest parrot it as truth.

I blame Jerry
ithink it's Teddy's farewell. We can't be good now that he is gone or he will look bad.
