I'd hold the expectation right now to a 1 year rental. Why Keenan may only be a Bear this year:
He does seem like the perfect WR for this 1st rookie season with Caleb Williams. But you're right about it possibly being a one year rental. I'm fine with that. Poles said he is open to a longer term contract, but it would have to be team friendly. Next month KA turns 32 years old. This will be his 11th season in the NFL. WR's usually drop production after 10 seasons. Here's a stat chart (LINK) on WR's who produced well in mid 30's and beyond. There's not too many. But a great route runner like Keenan Allen could be good through (I'd guess) age 34. Maybe Poles can work out an extension that makes sense considering KA's age.

Media is already taking the shine off the apple. We all know that a long term contract may not happen with Allen, but here is an article so the whole world knows. Maybe Allen will really like it here. He will be playing with a generational QB. And there are only about 6 generational players in the NFL. Oh.... wait....
Allen is betting that his play this season will get him the contract he wants next. Good for him, let him try. He's older, Williams is a rookie, so we'll see. I wouldn't pay him yet either. And no way I'm tagging a 32-33 yr old WR no matter what he does. And I consider a 4th round pick for even one year of Allen a good deal.
