Bears sign intriguing new Tight End MyCole Pruitt
The Chicago Bears have claimed former Southern Illinois star MyCole Pruitt off the Vikings’ practice squad according to various reports. Pruitt, now 24 years-old, was a two-time first-team All-American in Division I-AA while finishing second in school history with 2,600+ receiving yards and 25 receiving touchdowns.
He will join Ben Braunecker, Daniel Brown and Logan Paulsen at the tight end position to likely finish out the season for Chicago. Pruitt had 11 receptions for 96 yards in just over a season and a half with the Vikings.
Selected by Minnesota with the first pick of the fifth round, 143rd overall, Pruitt was a top performer at the NFL combine in the 40 yard dash (4.58), vertical jump (38 in.), broad jump (118 in.), 20 yard shuttle (4.37 secs) and 60 yard shuttle (11.85 secs), every drill he competed in.
DRAFT ANALYSIS:
The 2-time FCS All American showed that his skills translated well against quality competition at the Shrine Game. He lacks the athleticism and size to stretch the seams but he can contribute as a move tight end in sub packages. –Mark Dulgerian
