I only bring this up because most of our receivers are either injured or suspended. Floyd is tough and has great size. He's also an imbecile who lacks common sense. I know he's not the type of player Virginia usually likes, but desperated times call for desperated measures.
Also keep in mind that AJ might leave Chicago after this season. So there's that...
Michael Floyd's disastrous 2016 season has cost him a job.
The Arizona Cardinals announced Wednesday that they have released the wide receiver in the wake of Monday's arrest on drunken driving charges. Floyd was previously arrested in 2011 for driving under the influence.
With his rookie contract expiring, Floyd was set to reach free agency in March. All but eliminated from the playoff picture following last week's loss at Miami, the Cardinals opted to pull the cord with three games remaining in a disappointing season.

We've signed two ex-Cardinal players recently. Sam Acho and Bobby Massie. Based on their play, I can see why they were let go. Not that either is a bad teammate or gets into trouble. But the Cardinals seem to make pretty good personnel decisions. I expect that there may be a fair amount of down side to this guy.
Floyd was getting paid about $3.5 million a year and was at the end of his deal. He really shot himself in the foot with his arrest so it's going to be hard for him to ask for a lot more. He was getting paid about $7.3 million this season so he was probably going to want more but that's going to be hard to do now. If you could get him for under $7 million then that would be a pretty good deal when looking at other WRs in that price range. Here are his career stats.

Could be an interesting move in the offseason if Jeffrey does walk. They both do a lot of the same things well. Pass for now...far too late in a season going nowhere.
For a team to release a guy over a DUI ( where no one got injured ) makes me think there's more to the backstory . Doing it is 100% stupid cuz it's inherently dangerous and ur lucky if nothing bad happens . But in this instance no one got injured and alot of teams wouldn't just outright release a guy , they'd try to help him ... UNLESS there's been other behind the scenes stuff that's been going on that has them tired of dealing with him .
The Bears would have to do their homework before considering signing him - he may be worth the it , but he also might be a wingnut who wouldn't be worth the headaches .

(I would rather keep AJ)
Do we need to let AJ go if we get him? Not sure this is an either/or thing. Main thing is that Fox is the anti-Belichick. He shys away from guys he needs to keep in line. Belicheck takes them in and when they are with him, they don't act up. That might be the biggest impediment to our getting him. Fox won;t want to mess with him.
