"Both Whitehair and Jackson had one year remaining on their respective contracts. The Whitehair release will save the Bears $9.15 million against the cap. The Jackson release will save $12.56 million against the cap."

IMO he played good enough until his body began to break down. Drafted as a G, pushed into the starting C role due to injuries in TC/PS, made the all rookie team at C, a PB in 2019 playing every snap that year, pushed back to G after Daniel was drafted, moved back to C because Daniel was terrible, shifted around between LG and RG depending on which way the wind was blowing and who was injured....
I'm not going to focus on his injured last two season. He did his best and was an above average OL for the Bears. Unless he retires he's starting somewhere next season.

Yeah he was a solid player when he was healthy. Not sure if he's going to start anywhere though at this point. I think his body isn't holding up anymore and he seems to have the yips at center now.

True dat. I wouldn’t mind resigning him to a cheap contract as a backup. At this point, I don’t see him getting many opportunities elsewhere.
He seemed like a classy guy and a solid player until the last couple of years. I have to believe his body just couldn't get it done anymore. I wish him the best.
