An interesting look at prospect rankings and the draft

The second video has too many logical errors in it for me to finish watching. I'll give you two:

The value of the 1st pick v the 33 is tied to the potential more than anything else. He ignores the fact that more above average players come out of the first round than any other round. (Not all the other rounds but we aren't talking about that, we are just comparing pick 1 and pick 33.) He also ignores the fact that picking 1 you have the option of picking ANY PLAYER IN THE DRAFT. But while picking at 33, 32 players are already done and usually they are the top prospects at the top positions. The first pick should be valued much more than the 33rd pick. He can't consider that maybe the best WR (after careers are done) was drafted at 33, because that is unknown. He's looking backwards to make his case. Except for one tricky detail....no one knows who will make it or not for years to come BUT consistently (and many studies have shown this) the better players come out of the first round.

When he talks about the trades up for QBs, he considers the value of players not picked incorrectly. Goff was traded for draft picks NOT DHenry + everyone named in the video. Its a nice bait and switch pulled off. The Rams were not going to pick Henry, they had a healthy Todd Gurley at the time. Henry can not and should not be considered as part of the Goff trade. Thats like saying that everyone who traded a draft pick the year Tom Brady was drafted should be marked down for not drafting Tom Brady. Its silly.
