Tyrique Stevenson chosen as Bears Rookie of the Year

That's so odd, heard how bad he was all year, dude was getting burnt and pff hated him. huh, guess not.

Kind of surprised Wright didn't get it to be honest, was the best OL on the team, if for no other reason was the only one that never got hurt. Poles has done a great job drafting in general though.

It was so hard to have drafts without ANY first round pick with previous GMs.  Entire drafts with like 5 picks.  That just is not sustainable and we saw the roster talent rot.  I do like how Poles is different than past GMs.  He plays his draft cards pretty darned well.  Not perfect, because nobody bats .1000 in the draft.  But he does pretty darned well overall.

Rookies have a learning curve, but fans want instant performance.  I do get frustrated when some fans label a guy as a bad player before the guy has had the chance to learn the game at the NFL level and develop.  I guess it is just the world we live in today.  People don't have patience for anything.  

Was always my biggest issue w/Pace. He didn't seem to value the draft during a rebuild. The draft has a huge bust rate, for just about every team, so the more picks the better. Have 5 and miss on 3 is a big issue. Have 8 and miss on 4, not so much. Have 10 and miss on 5 and you are still in a solid spot. Now some of that is still on the GM getting the right guys for the coach; and constant turnover of the coaches means those previous picks don't matter hit or miss; or at least potentially. 

Stability at the GM and coaching matters greatly to building long term success b/c it means you aren't always starting over from nearly scratch. 

I digress, and agree it takes more than 1-2 drafts, but man it looks good.  I've always said each draft you want 2-3 starters and another couple 3 backups. Last year:
Jones, Gordon, Brisker starting and Vajayjay, Robinson and Kramer bench guys. 

2023, Wright, Dextor, Stevenson starters, backups RoJo, Scott and Pickens and Smith. 


Ya he's doing well. I can only imagine what he can do w/this upcoming draft. But i'm legit excited. It's a far cry from late Angelo/Smith drafts(smith had more say after the sb) and Emery drafts. How many guys got drafted early/mid and never saw a meaningful snap?
